Recording Game Clips Using The Guide On Xbox Series X

If you don’t have a new Xbox Wireless Controller or third-party option that includes a Share button, or if you prefer to do it the old-fashioned way, you absolutely can. There are actually two different ways to capture your gameplay using the Guide on the Xbox Series X|S, depending on how much control you need. Of course, if you’re looking for speed, or if you do a lot of sharing while gaming on Xbox, we definitely recommend picking up one of the new Xbox Wireless Controllers or a suitable alternative, which will also work on Xbox One.

The first way to take a screenshot using the Xbox Guide is contextual. If you’re playing a game where screenshots and game clips are allowed, Xbox gives you a shortcut to capture your gameplay more quickly. Simply press the Xbox / Guide button in the center of your controller to open the Guide, then press “X” on your controller to record a game clip, or “Y” to capture a screenshot. Using this method will follow your defaults. You can also hit the “View” button to view additional settings for game captures, which just opens the Capture & share section in Settings.

Alternatively, you can scroll through the Guide using the “LB” and “RB” buttons on your controller to reach the Capture & share screen. From this screen, you can either:

The Xbox Upload Studio App Is Being Replaced Later This Year

  • 0

Pour one out for the Upload Studio! The clip-creating app, which was heavily promoted back at the launch of the Xbox One in 2013, is officially being replaced for good later this year.

In a message sent to Xbox users, Microsoft explained that the share experience available via the new Xbox app for mobile will replace the Upload Studio, allowing you manage your uploaded captures and share them to social media.

Don’t worry – you’ll still be able to trim your clips via the Capture & Share tab in the console guide, but the rest of the Upload Studio’s admittedly clunky editing features will seemingly be disappearing forever.

Have you ever used the Upload Studio? Will you miss it? Let us know in the comments.

How To Record On Xbox One With Game Dvr

Windows Game DVR has changed to Windows 10/11 Game Bar in the latest Windows version, so you can’t find out the Game DVR app on your Windows PC. Use The Xbox App To Record Your Screen In Windows 10

How to Edit Xbox clips on PC (coming soon to xbox one!!!)

Windows 10’s Xbox app records video games and just about everything else.

Windows 10 has a native feature that lets you record a video clip — of up to 2 hours — of your screen. But you may not have noticed this feature, because it’s hidden away inside the Xbox app.

Called Game DVR, this feature is designed to record video game footage . But it doesn’t just work for games. In fact, it works in just about any app, including your Internet browser and even Microsoft Word. Because sometimes you want to record yourself typing up an article about the Game DVR feature, I guess.

As a screen recording app, Game DVR is pretty limited. For example, you can’t record your entire screen , you can only record one window/app at a time. But it’s still pretty handy if you need to grab a video clip within an app, so here’s how to activate and use it:

Step 1: If you haven’t used the Xbox app yet, you’ll need to first open it to set it up. To do this, open the Start menu and go to All apps > Xbox.

Step 2: Once the Xbox app is set up, you can open the Game bar inside any app or program by hitting the keyboard shortcut: Win key + G. The first time you open the Game bar inside an app or program, you will see a pop-up message asking if you want to open the Game bar. Click Yes this is a game. Do this even if it’s not a game — it will work with any app, including Internet browsers.

Improving The Capturing And Sharing Experience On Xbox Is Now A Priority For Microsoft

If the Xbox OS and the Xbox Store received a fresh coat of paint last fall ahead of the release of the Xbox Series X|S consoles, Microsoft still has a lot of work to do to improve social features on Xbox consoles. Despite Microsoft adding a new Share button to the new Xbox Series X|S controller, the capture and sharing experience on Xbox consoles continues to lag behind what Sony offers on PlayStation consoles.

As of today, uploading screenshots and clips to Xbox Live can be very slow, and sharing captures to OneDrive or Twitter can also be quite cumbersome. Despite the Xbox Series X coming with over 800GB of internal storage, its worth noting that the OS still requires gamers to use external storage to record longer clip that can only be up to 60 minutes long. For some reason, clips and screenshots from Xbox games captured on external storage cant be shared to Xbox Live, OneDrive, or Twitter, which is another weird limitation.

A revamp of the Game DVR and sharing experience on Xbox consoles is obviously long overdue, and were happy to report that the Xbox team is already working on revamping these features. Answering a question about the lackluster Capture and video sharing experience on Xbox, Jason Ronald, Director of Program Management at Xbox replied that “We have heard the feedback and working on a number of improvements to the capture and share experience. Nothing to share yet, but a priority for the team.

Xbox Is Getting A New Screenshot And Video Sharing App This Fall

Written by on September 22, 2020 | OpenCritic

It’s long past time for Xbox to replace its abandoned Upload Studio app, and according to messages being sent to some users via Xbox Live, the green team is doing exactly that.

If you’re on Xbox, check your messages and you may find the same message I did, hinting at an overhaul for the social aspects of Xbox’s user experience to go along with that new designated Share button on the new controllers.

“Thanks for playing on Xbox. This fall, we’re replacing Upload Studio with a new share experience available via the Xbox app on mobile. You can still trim your game clips from the Capture & share tab in the console guide, and with the new experience on mobile it’s simple to manage your uploaded captures and share them to popular social media sites.”

Upload Studio has been the unfortunate go-to for Xbox players looking to edit and share clips and screenshots from their consoles. The app featured different interstitials and borders for players to decorate their content with, but it was never supported after the launch window. Browse the content there today and you’ll still find the only options include things like fonts and screen wipes for games such as Sunset Overdrive and .

We expect to hear more about the new social sharing app soon, especially now that the Xbox Series X and Series S are up for pre-orders around the world.

How To Capture Video Clips In Windows 10

How to record, edit, share, delete, and manage Game Clips on Xbox One

Windows 10 has a built-in tool called Game Bar to help you record your screen during PC and Xbox gaming sessions. But this tool can also be used to record non-gaming apps and activity.

Taking a screenshot in Windows 10 is fairly quick and simple, but capturing video of your screen activity is more challenging. Microsoft has made it easier through the use of a built-in video capture tool called Game Bar.

Game Bar was designed to record games you play directly on your PC, or those you stream from an Xbox console, but it can just as easily capture video of screen activity from your web browser, Windows applications, or any other program. Screen activity that you record is automatically saved as an MP4 video file.

If you want to use Game Bar, you will have to meet certain system requirements, including the right type of graphics card. If you try to use Game Bar and your PC isnt up to snuff, you may receive an error telling you that your PC doesnt meet the hardware requirement for recording clips. But fear not, as there is a way around this limitation.

Upload Studio No Longer Supported

I logged onto my Xbox today and went to edit a clip via the Upload Studio, it now pops up with a message stating that its no longer supported and recommends deleting the app.

If I try to edit my clips using the built in trim feature as well it usually gets stuck on saving screen with the bar about 75% done.

Even on the occasion that it does manage to save the clips it doesnt have the same functionality. I cant edit together multiple clips to make a montage for instance, use transitions or pick my exact thumbnail/starting point.

Is there any alternative app I can use on Xbox to edit and upload clips or is this just it now? I only really share them on the community feed there so transferring it to PC to edit is kind of redundant.

Any help or discussion would be much appreciated, thank you.
