Fine Tune Your Scroll Wheel
Once the mouse dialog pops up, you should see a window that looks something like this. Choose the Wheel tab located along the top portion of the window.
In this box you can actually type what kind of scroll wheel sensitivity you want, rather than trying to hit it on the scale using your arrow keys.
In this same box is where youll find the option to link your scroll wheel to the One page at a time function, which does pretty much exactly what the name implies. Every time you scroll a notch, the wheel will skip an entire page of content at once, rather than going through it line by line.
RELATED:How to Scroll the Command Prompt Window with the Keyboard
You can also use this prompt to adjust the settings for whats known as horizontal scrolling. This is a feature that will only be available on mice that have a tilt function in the wheel, which allows you to not only scroll up and down, but left to right for larger webpages or landscape-style PDFs.
Once youve found the sweet spot for your scroll wheel, hit Apply, and youre done.
Which scroll speed is right for you will be based on your mouse and your own personal preference. If youre constantly scanning through Twitter at light speed and want as many refreshes as you can get per minute, a higher scroll speed should do the job. However, if youre tired of barely grazing the wheel and missing half a page of content in the process, lowering this setting could be the best bet.
What Is Xbox One Controller Drift
The most common situation involves drift in the left analog stick, which usually manifests in your character constantly looking up in first-person games. However, the right stick can also suffer from drift issues. You may also notice that when you move one of the analog sticks in any direction, it will continue registering that movement even after taking your thumb off the stick.
When Xbox One controller drift occurs, there are three main causes:
- Worn out thumbstick pad: Each thumbstick consists of a boxy sensor component with a moveable shaft on top and a rubber or plastic component that snaps onto the shaft. If the rubber or plastic piece becomes worn, replacing or repairing it will fix your drift issue. In some cases, a similar issue can be caused by dirty thumbstick pads.
- Worn out springs: Each thumbstick sensor component has two springs that help snap it back to the center whenever you remove your thumb. When one or both springs wear out, youll notice drift. Replacing the springs fixes that problem.
- Bad thumbstick unit: Each thumbstick consists of a boxy sensor component thats soldered to the controller circuit board. This component can fail internally, in which case the only possible fix is to replace it with a new part.

While this feature caters some benefits, particularly effortless downloading of contents, pertinent issues may also surface especially if your device is already running low on storage.
To prevent potential issues from occurring, you can configure the browser to stop downloading online contents automatically.

My Xbox One Controller Is Moving Way To Fast All Of A Sudden
I’m not sure if there has been an update overnight or something but today my controller is moving way too fast on the home screen to select anything. If I tap a direction key it jumps 2 or 3 spaces in any direction I press. The same with the thumb stick. If I press a button it tries to press so fast it doesn’t register the click properly. When I tried to turn off the controller using the controller it was trying to register the button press so fast that it would blink very fast but do nothing.
This is a new controller that working fine until last night. I took the batteries out plus did a console hard reset but neither worked.

Why Does My Xbox Controller Drift
According to the suit, there are specific characteristics of the Xbox One controller which cause it to drift. The lawsuit alleges that a defect in the potentiometer, the part of the controller that controls the electrical outcomes of physical movements, may be causing the problem. The suit states that the wiper component of the potentiometer scrapes resistive material off a curved track, resulting in unwanted electrical contact without input from the user.
This lawsuit was brought specifically regarding Xbox Elite controllers for which the plaintiff claims to have paid $179.99 apiece. However, the suit and many news sites have noted that this is a common issue for owners of Xbox One controllers, and not just Elite controllers.

Should You Join An Xbox One Class Action Lawsuit

Knowing how to fix Xbox One controller drift may help solve the issue, but a better option may be taking civil action. The process of fixing these controllers is risky, and you may need to invest in replacement parts, tools, and fast-acting glues. If you arent eligible to join a suit, you may be able to have the controller professionally fixed. Nintendo Joy-Cons faced a similar lawsuit last year. In response, they made repairs of Joy-Cons free.
It is possible that Microsoft will follow in Nintendos footsteps. In that case, if you have already attempted a repair, your controller may no longer be fixable or eligible. You may have better luck joining a class action lawsuit against the company.
This Controller Drift Lawsuit is Case No. 2:20-cv-00640, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

About the only thing you can do is make sure it is updated completely. When this happens purchasing a new controller is what is required. Sorry, I know that is not what you wanted to hear but that is just the way it is.
If this doesn’t work then purchasing a new controller is about your only option. Good Luck!
