Use Battle Lab Mode To Familiarise Yourself With The Map
One of the key aspects to improving at Fortnite is learning the map. Jumping into public games and fighting against 99 other players each time can get quite tiresome if you’re not succeeding, so hop into Battle Lab mode then choose Create A Battle Lab to explore the map to your heart’s content. You have free rein of the battle royale island, from Slurpy Swamp to Steamy Stacks and everywhere in between. All possible chests and vehicles are guaranteed to spawn in Battle Lab too, so you can learn where each chest is likely to be and familiarise yourself with your favourite locations.

Dont Destroy Trees Completely
Using your pickaxe to destroy trees is an essential way to get wood for building materials, but do not destroy trees completely. Instead stop when the tree has 50 health left on its hitbar, as leaving a trail of destroyed vegetation in your wake makes it incredibly easy for other players to follow your tracks and hunt you down.

How Do I Edit My Buildings In Fortnite
Before we teach what Fortnite structures can be edited, we need to understand how to edit. One major configuration I recommend changing before you jump into the game is changing the controller set up to builder pro.
This will speed up your building on the console.
Here is a comparison of having to build stairs on normal configuration vs. building on builder pro:
Fortnite’s New Permanent ‘zero Build’ Mode Is Going Down A Treat
If there’s one thing we’ve found really difficult over the years, it’s keeping up with the Fortnite pros who have become masters at building elaborate structures in a matter of seconds. Fortunately, Epic Games has heard the cries for a permanent alternative to building, and has now implemented it in the form of Fortnite Zero Build.
This new mode is playable in Solo, Duos, Trios and Squads, and completely removes the building aspect of the game, requiring you to use your weapon, item, and traversal skills to come out on top. The reaction to this has been somewhat mixed in certain circles, but we’ve seen a lot of praise for it on the whole. Here’s one particular example:
This is a massive W Tfue
Because there’s no building in the new mode, all players now have a recharging Overshield that acts as a first line of defense. Apart from that, it’s the same basic game .
Don’t forget that Fortnite is free-to-play on Xbox and optimised for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, with the ability to play at up to 120 frames per-second on both consoles yes even the Series S! Might be worth giving it another try…
- Aman Studios on YouTube
“This was one of their greatest additions ever, I’m glad they are keeping it.”
- Neo on YouTube
“This is one of the best things this game has done in ages. Ironically, building, the one mechanic that made this game unique, is what also ruined it for me. Thank you.”

Find The Right Spot To Land
Find the perfect spot to land: The closer a location to the Battle Buss flight path, the more popular it is with other players. Also, avoid large towns like Retail Row, Tilted Towers, Pleasant Park, and Paradise Palms. They contain lots of loot, but theyre also very popular with players all battling out for the same loot.

How To Crouch On Xbox Series:
For Standard and Quick Builder configurations layouts, crouching is by left shoulder button using PS4 or Xbox series for Fortnite.
In Combat Pro configuration, crouch is on the right thumb by tapping the thumbstick.
There is no toggling between clicking and holding the crouch button in Fortnite.
Crouching is a popular position in video games, particularly in battle royale games. A character in this position is on its knees, with its body slightly bent towards the ground.
If youre not sure what Im talking about, imagine someone tying their shoelaces while almost sitting on the floor.
To get into a crouched position, players must use control keys, which are not always the same for all devices.
We went through how to crouch in Fortnite on various platforms in this blog.

Make Your Builds A Tad Bit Taller
In a similar fashion to the previous tip, the new sprinting and mantling movement mechanics in Fortnite make climbing over and on objects much easier overall. Because of this, you should focus on building your traditional one-by-one builds as a two-by-two. The reason for this is that it will be much harder for your opponents to climb on top to take out your ceiling to flank you.
Many players are in the habit of quickly cranking a 90 in order to negate damage, and while this will still help initially, learning to master a slightly higher build will mean longer survival. Get in the habit of making your builds one story taller than you used to in order to stave off third-party opponents from climbing onto builds more easily.

Random Tips And Tricks
Fortnite is overly complex, and there are lots of little tricks you can use to improve the experience that aren’t readily obvious from the game’s tutorials or UI. Here are a few that I use.
- Holding “B” on your Xbox controller while placing floors, walls, stairs, or pyramids will let you eliminate sections to create new types of structures. Some of these include arch ways, doors, chest-high walls, circular stair wells, and corners, perfect for building unique forts and really unleashing your creativity.
- If you’re searching for the materials for a particular weapon or trap, you can actually pin the recipe to your screen to help remind you what loot you need. Simply highlight the recipe in the inventory and press down the right joystick to pin the materials required to the UI.
- If you’re building a fort, don’t think of your traps as a “last ditch effort,” by building walls in front of them. They are there to be used! Make sure that enemies can actually walk into your traps for maximum maiming and minimum material wastage. Zombies are dumb, but they’re not that dumb. They tend to take the path of lowest resistance to destroy your objective use this knowledge to your advantage when creating traps. You can quite easily create gauntlets of death and destruction using this method.
Best Fortnite Controller Options Settings
Now that youve sorted your Game settings, we need to take a look at the Controller Settings. These options will set features like Auto-Run, which stops you from having to hold the thumbstick down, and things like Vibration and hold times.
- Build Immediately : On
- Edit Hold Time: 0.100 seconds
- Slide Hold Time: 0.150 seconds
- Vibration: Off

Turn On Turbo Building
One of the most important additions to season three is the ability to Turbo Build! Turbo Build should be on by default but you can toggle this on or off at anytime in your settings. With turbo build, youll be able to continuously place down walls or ramps by holding R2, letting you cross bodies of water or climb steep hills with ease.
Fortnite 2140 Update Dragon Ball Crossover
The marquee addition of Fortnite update 21.40 is the long-rumored collaboration with the popular anime Dragon Ball. Its unclear ahead of release exactly what will be included, but players can expect some new skins of beloved characters and new POIs on the map.
Leakers have hinted that there will be four Dragon Ball skins included in the collaboration, including Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and an unknown fourth character, with many hoping for Broly or Trunks.
Well be sure to update this section as soon as the patch goes live and we can see everything the Fortnite x Dragon Ball crossover has to offer.
Goku, Vegeta & Beerus are confirmed as skins in the Fortnite x Dragon Ball collab. The 4th skin is most likely a female, any guesses on who it could be?

Tips For Looting Fortnite Maps
Fortnite’s gameplay is almost patronizingly easy until higher levels, so don’t worry too much about perfecting every map or blowing all your resources building the most extravagant base defenses possible. Through to higher levels, you can defend most objectives using the most rudimentary bases possible.
In Fortnite, you get a big pick axe for chopping and smashing things into materials. You should absolutely use the axe on rocks, trees, vehicles, and other machines, breaking them down for the fundamental wood/metal/stone materials and other crafting components. However, all too often do I see players running around just smashing everything. Sometimes, it’s better to simply loot.
Throughout Fortnite’s impressive procedurally generated maps, you will find piles of useful materials, unique crafting items, and sometimes, rare blueprints. They’re often hidden inside objects, such as fridges, cupboards, boxes, and special chests that are especially hard to find. It’s these more exotic crafting materials that you’ll use to build more powerful weapons, traps, and defenses.
Chests can be hidden in all sorts of obscure places. Sometimes they can be hidden behind walls in basements, or in attics in buildings, that are inaccessible without smashing down barriers or building stairwells. They’re often at the top of towers, or hidden below churches. Sometimes they can simply be on top of roofs or hidden in the corner â they glow too, making them easy to find in darker areas.

Learn How To Progress Your Characters And Gear In Fortnite
The most important thing to pay attention to in Fortnite’s progression systems is your deck of Heroes, Survivors, and Blueprints.
Heroes are playable characters that come in all sorts of tiers and varieties. They each have unique abilities and attributes and building up their power forms the basis of Fortnite’s progression besides acquiring loot.
Gear, such as weapons and traps, can also be leveled up, in addition to Survivors, who can be slotted into various squads to provide additional stat boosts to your main hero in the field. We have a comprehensive guide to how Survivors work right here.
In the Armory section, you can view your Heroes, Schematics, and Survivors, and upgrade and retire them at will. Retiring outdated Blueprints, Heroes, and Survivors will give you EXP to spend on items you do want to progress, but completing missions will also reward you with EXP to spend on different things.
Once you have leveled up an item or Hero to their maximum level , they can be “evolved” using Training Manuals and other rare loot items, often found in the field or obtained via quests. “Pure Drops of Rain” and “Lightning in a Bottle” are two super rare items that you’ll find yourself needing in abundance if you want to get any specific Hero to level 30, where all the fun and most powerful abilities live. Evolutions are also locked via the Skill Tree, so make sure you’ve purchased the relevant nodes there too.
Fifth Dragon Ball Location
The fifth Dragon Ball can be found in Kamis Place. You’ll see Vegeta near a clock when you arrive at Kamis Place. To begin the trial, you’ll need to run through the clock and ride a Nimbus Cloud.
As soon as you run through the clock, you’ll need to follow the path shown ahead while riding the Nimbus. Don’t worry about falling down because there’ll be fans along the way that’ll boost you up.
You’ll unlock the fifth Dragon Ball when you cross the finish line.

Knowing When Not To Build
You dont have to build any new object or building if you dont want to. Fortunately, building is not a crucial task during Fortnite gameplay. There are many players, in fact, who opt not to build new structures. New buildings can stick out in a landscape and leave a player vulnerable. While youre building, an enemy can quickly sweep in and attack while youre swapping weapons for crafting tools.
Its important to note that any structure you create could appear out of place in your environment. They may seem noticeably different from the pre-made buildings in Fortnite. A new design could draw attention to your base and possibly lure in opponents. If you take advantage of the structures already built, you may be able to save a bit of time, protect yourself, and camouflage where youre hiding out easier. If youre really short on time, consider hiding in bushes or trees for shelter.

Xbox occasionally add new Cloud supported countries, but the biggest roadblock is the network infrastructure of specific countries that they cannot change, or specific countries having restrictions.
Preserve Energy For Escapes
Energy is a fairly plentiful resource. Only being used when sprinting, it recharges fairly quickly and gives a nice burst of speed. That said, in Fortnite Zero Build, players must be more careful with this resource than usual.
Fights often come down to positioning around the terrain, and when in a tight spot, getting to slightly higher ground or more solid cover can be a lifesaver. As such, you need to make sure you arent using it for frivolous purposes, such as getting from A to B, or tracking down Klombos. Otherwise, you could be caught with their trousers down when you need to make a getaway.

Get Into The Habit Of Harvesting Materials As You Run
While the player with the best aim will usually come out on top in a fight, building is absolutely key to give yourself the biggest advantage possible. To build though, you need to have materials which can only be obtained through harvesting materials. Wood is the most common and you can destroy everything from trees and bushes to chairs and wardrobes. Test out which structures give you the most materials then harvest them as you run from one location to the next to give yourself maximum resources.
Practice Your Basic Builds
Lastly, practice really does make perfect. If you develop the muscle memory for it, building your basic defensive forts will be second nature, even while under heavy fire. Your most basic build is a box with a ramp or stairs, so practice this structure and build on your skills from there. If all else fails, you can always use the Port-a-Fort, but dont rely on it too much. The insta-Fort-grenade is of epic rarity.
