Xbox Series X Vs Series S Vs Ps5

$499/£449/499 | $399/£349/399 |
The difference in power generally means early Series S and Series X games run at different resolutions but often perform similarly. For example, Watch Dogs: Legion targets 4K at 30fps on the Series X and 1080p 30fps on the Series S, and both support ray-tracing for better-looking reflections.
Similarly, Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon run at 60fps at 1080p on the Series S, compared to 4K 60fps on the Series X.

Suffice it to say, if you dont have the cash to make a big upfront purchase, then Microsoft still wants to get you on board for its next generation of consoles. You wont own any of the games you can play , but thats the trade-off you make.
Microsofts plans for the next generation of gaming are sprawling. Two consoles that are available via subscription and can play a huge chunk of your existing Xbox games, a new roster of games that will be playable on your existing Xbox One, a continuing focus on PC gaming, and a game streaming service mean that, no matter what hardware you own, theres a decent chance youll be able to pay Microsoft to play its games.
Weve written before about how the focus on trying to sell subscriptions rather than premium hardware means that the true next-gen Xbox is the subscription itself, rather than the hardware it plays on. Microsoft is casting its net wide, and it doesnt want any hardware requirements to get in the way of you subscribing.
Sony, meanwhile, is doing what its always done: its making a new console, developing exclusive games for it, and selling it. Its hard to argue too much with the approach when its done so well for the company so far, especially with the PS4.

How Much Will The Xbox Series X Cost
The Series X’s price was also unveiled the same day its release date was announced. Microsoft’s premium console will cost $499 up-front or customers can opt for a payment plan and receive a number of other perks.
For 24 monthly payments of $35, gamers can get the Series X along with the Xbox All Access which comes with 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. That gives users access to a monthly catalog of free games that rotate every month. Microsoft seems keenly aware that the economic uncertainty brought on by the coronavirus pandemic will influence how much money customers have to spend on games and is trying to make even its priciest console as accessible as possible.
In a June 2020 interview with the BBC, Xbox chief Phil Spencer noted that he was well aware of how important a reasonable price point will be this year with the economic hardships that have befallen many people around the world because of the coronavirus pandemic.
” strategy is centered around the player, not the device,” he said. “We see the impact of people getting furloughed and layoffs. It’s tough. And we are a leisure activity. We’re not a requirement … So we want to be really tuned in to that as we launch. How can we make it as affordable as possible? How can we give buyers choice?”
This could very well pay off as polls indicate that the price of the Xbox Series X will be the most important factor when gamers are deciding between Microsoft’s next-gen console or the PS5.

Xbox 2020 Price: New Console Price Cost Release Date Specs And More
I would say a learning from the Xbox One generation is we will not be out of position on power or price, Spencer told The Verge. If you remember the beginning of this generation we were a hundred dollars more expensive and yes, we were less powerful…
With the Xbox 2020 announced at the Game Awards, we now know more about Microsoft’s flagship console. We even have an idea of when it’s coming out, with a targeted window of Holidays 2020. But how much is it going to hurt our wallets?
How much does the Xbox 2020 cost?
During the era of the Xbox 360, the console became extremely popular as it was more accessible to people because of the cheaper price tag when compared to the PS3.
The Xbox One turned that on its head by coming with a huge price tag at $499/£429 which turned off a lot of people.
Microsoft’s Phil Spencer came out to say earlier this year that they have learnt from this mistake:
I would say a learning from the Xbox One generation is we will not be out of position on power or price, Spencer told The Verge. If you remember the beginning of this generation we were a hundred dollars more expensive and yes, we were less powerful. And we started Project Scarlett with this leadership team in place with a goal of having market success.
The price is all determined on what the machine will be made of.
Specs
As for the actual Xbox Series X specs, we have been promised 120 FPS, 8K, and ray tracing supported by dedicated hardware.
How Long Will The Xbox One Last
Since the Xbox One is an aging console, eventually it won’t receive new games anymore. But how long should you expect the Xbox One to receive support?
To get an idea, consider the last generation. The Xbox 360 launched in 2005 and was discontinued in 2016. After the Xbox One launched in 2013, the Xbox 360 continued to receive some cross-generation games.

2014’s Forza Horizon 2 was the last Xbox 360 entry in the Xbox-exclusive series, while 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider came to both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For yearly third-party titles, 2016’s Madden NFL 17 was the last Madden released on Xbox 360.
However, since the Xbox One S and One X both launched mid-generation in 2016, these past patterns may not predict what happens this time.

Better Graphics On Old Games Great Graphics On New Games
The Xbox Series X and Series S feature a new generation of graphics hardware that is more capable than the components of previous consoles in a variety of ways. In most titles, you can expect higher resolutions, higher frame rates, and more detailed characters and environments compared to the same games on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, all with better image quality. Effects should also be more pronounced and sophisticated, as the new graphics hardware in these consoles can pull off greater amounts of fancy tricks like smoke and fog that has physical properties, and lighting that creates shadows and reflections more like it does in the real world.
Xbox Series X: Design
Youd be forgiven for saying that the Xbox Series X looks like a small-form-factor PC, because it does at least when its standing upright. Its monolithic design could be seen as uninspired. But I rather like the system’s clean and unfussy appearance. Its big, however.
Measuring 15.1 x 15.1 x 30.1 centimeters and weighing 9.8 pounds, the Series X is a rather bulky machine, though not as large as the PS5. This means youll struggle to fit it into an entertainment unit, unless you place the device on its side. Theres a quartet of soft pads on one side of the console to show you which way it should be positioned when lying sideways. These also prevent the console from slipping around.
I think the Xbox Series X looks a little clunky and clumsy on its side, a bit like the lovechild of an audio amplifier and a brick. I keep mine upright and sitting partially behind my TV, and it looks rather nice in that space, particularly as you can peer into the top vent of the console, which has some green accents around the holes towards the middle.
In fact, while it might look a little clunky peeking out from behind my TV, I think the Series X looks rather good sitting on a desktop. If you plan to plug the system into a 4K or high-refresh-rate monitor, you could be pleasantly surprised.

The Price I Pay Is Based On What I’ll Actually Play
I have a formula I use when deciding to purchase a new game console. I want the value of the games I play on it to equal or surpass the cost of the console itself. So if I pay, say, $600 for a console, I want to play at least 10 $60-priced games throughout owning that machine. That “breaks even” in my mind and makes me satisfied with my purchase.
Why do I have this formula, you ask? I own an Xbox One launch model, which I purchased for $500. Unfortunately, I can count the number of Xbox One games I have owned on a single hand. Ryse: Son of Rome, Rare Replay, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Gears 5 are the only titles on my shelf–and that last one was a gift. So if you use my equation, the console was not a worthwhile investment. You don’t even need the formula to see that.
Now let me be clear: I don’t blame Microsoft for this. My friend group just happened to cluster around the PS4 and PC this past generation. But the dust gathering on my Xbox One in my closet means I need to weigh the potential cost of a Series X against the combined value of the games I’ll actually play on it. And you know what? I’ll probably get there pretty quickly through Xbox Game Pass. After all, a new console generation seems like a good time to jump on that bandwagon.
Xbox Series X Review: Xbox Game Pass
Xbox Game Pass has been around for a while now, offering an easy way to get access to a suite of games for a rather affordable monthly price of $9.99 or £7.99. This has long made it one of the best bargains in the gaming world.
But I’d argue that Game Pass is an essential partner for the Xbox Series X. While the aforementioned launch line up of Xbox Series X games might be a little lacking, Game Pass provides a huge range of new and old games to play on the flagship console. Furthermore, many of these come with Xbox Series X and Series S enhancements, meaning the Xbox Series X is the best place to play such games you may have missed on the Xbox One.
Fork out $14.99 or £10.99 a month and you’ll get access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which provides access to Xbox and PC games, as well as cloud streaming and save syncing between all three platforms. It’s simply a fantastic deal in fact, right now I’d go as far as to say that Xbox Game Pass is the best deal in gaming.
What’s more a whole suite of upcoming Xbox One and Series X games will be released day-one on Game Pass, meaning its one of the most affordable ways to get new games.

What Is The Xbox Series X Release Date In Australia
Microsoft has officially confirmed that the Xbox Series X will launch on 10 November 2020 in Australia. It will launch simmultanously with the Xbox Series S.
This beats out Sony’s PlayStation 5 by two days, as it launches on 12 November 2020. It’s a win for Microsoft that it has got its Xbox Series X console out before its rival, even if it’s marginal. The date is also well-timed to make the most of the lead-up to Christmas. The end-of-year buying frenzy is a key event to be a part of, not to mention it’s the start of the cold months for the Northern Hemisphere where more time inside is a given.
It should come as no surprise that the last three consoles in the Xbox family the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the original Xbox all released in November.

Xbox Series X Xbox Series S Bundles And Deals
Microsoft launched Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S with one edition of each console, expected to ship just two stock-keeping units throughout the launch window. Past Xbox One consoles saw multiple versions, whether game bundles or limited-edition redesigns, but they’re uncommon within each console’s first year on the market. Microsoft isn’t diverging from the trend, especially given the global market’s current challenges.
While Microsoft hasn’t detailed any planned Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S bundles, they may be available. Third-party retailers have previously packaged their units with games, accessories, and subscriptions, as seen with GameStop who offers some bundles at over double the price of the console. We recommend visiting your local retailer online or in-store for additional details on available promotions on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
However, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S won’t see discounts anytime soon. It’s the norm with any new console, but especially the case with Microsoft’s latest hardware family. “When we looked at trends and silicon and hardware costs in this generation, we saw that we weren’t going to see the kinds of decreasing costs that we saw in prior generations,” said Liz Hamren, head of Xbox platform engineering and hardware at Microsoft, in a leaked press briefing. “And that led us to realize that we could deliver a fully next-gen, more accessible console at the beginning of a generation.”
