How Much Is The Xbox Series X Going To Cost

Don't Miss

Is It Worth The Upgrade For Xbox One Owners

How Much Are The PlayStation 5 And Xbox Series X Going To Cost?

If you’re an Xbox One owner who is thinking about upgrading to the Xbox Series X/S controller, you might want to hold off. While it is compatible, I’m not sure the differences are enough to warrant paying $60, especially when they’re included for free with the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

What you get with the Series X/S controller is a share button, which makes sharing clips marginally easier. You get superior shoulder buttons, which feel easier to use and more tactile. You get a slightly better weight distribution and a slightly more balanced feel. You’ll also get superior latency, although the difference is negligible, and may require an Xbox Series X or S to fully appreciate.

I would personally recommend simply upgrading your Xbox One to an Xbox Series X or Series S get the new controller rather than buying one outright â unless you specifically need to get a new controller. The previous-gen Xbox One controllers likely won’t be manufactured for much longer anyway, meaning that eventually, these will be the only official Xbox controllers available to buy.

What Is The Xbox Series S And How Is It Different From The Series X

The Xbox Series S is Microsofts smaller, cheaper next-gen option. Its designed to play all the same games as the Series X, with similar performance, but at a lower resolution 1440p instead of the 4K that the flagship console will deliver. Unfortunately, until were able to actually see and play games running on both consoles, well just have to take Microsofts word on performance.

But if the Series S lives up to its billing, itll be a great choice for customers who havent upgraded from a 1080p display and/or dont care about buying physical games. Thats right: Unlike the Xbox Series X, the Series S does not come with a disc drive. Oh, and its white instead of black.

Xbox Black Friday Game Deals

Although things seem quiet on the release front, Microsoft has actually announced that around 30 games are coming exclusively to Xbox in 2021. Some have already arrived, such as the horror adventure The Medium, but there are many others on the way too. This includes Halo Infinite, which is due for release on 8th December.

As for third-party titles, you can expect the usual Ubisoft culprits to get discounted and we’re hoping more recent releases such as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Far Cry Six to also get their prices dropped.

Don’t expect any major discounts on Microsoft’s first-party titles though. Many of these releases will be available on the day of release to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, so there doesn’t seem to be a massive reason to discount them. Instead, Microsoft would likely encourage wannabe players to sign up to Game Pass Ultimate to try these games for less – and hope to gain a new member in the process!

You don’t have to wait until Black Friday to pick up some new Xbox games for cheap, though. Here are the best deals available right now.

Xbox Series X Review: Final Thoughts And Summary

The Xbox Series X is a spectacular console. Every aspect of it is dripping with the love of a massive team that clearly cared about every millimeter, every line of code that was poured into this monolithic whole. Waiting for the full-blown feature set of RDNA 2 may cost Microsoft the sales race in Q4, but for those who are lucky enough to get their hands on it, the Xbox Series X is console gaming at its most excellent and most refined.

Xbox Series X is console gaming at its most excellent and most refined.

In terms of the ecosystem the Xbox Series X is attached to, Microsoft has struggled to change the narrative over its exclusive game offering, but that’s beginning to change. A tidal wave of investment has brought the entire ZeniMax portfolio exclusively under Xbox, alongside a robust lineup of satellite studios which include heavyweights like Obsidian, Playground, 343i, and many more.

The backward-compatibility effort on the Xbox Series X cannot be understated for its meticulousness and execution. Thousands upon thousands of games are launching with this console, from your favorite service-type experiences like Rocket League and Fortnite, to single-player classics like DOOM and Fallout 4. Hundreds of games are effectively getting free “remaster” treatment, boosted to their maximum resolutions and frame rates thanks to the forward-looking design of the Xbox ecosystem architecture.

Xbox Series X Price: We Predict The Final Price

We’ve put together our predictions on how much we think Xbox Series X will cost when it launches this holiday.

By GameSpot Staff on June 28, 2020 at 1:08PM PDT

For years, Microsoft has been setting the foundation for its next-gen console, Xbox Series X. After having to recover from the blunder of the Xbox One’s launch, the company has spent the latter years of this past console generation catering more to the consumer by advocating cross-platform play and backwards compatibility and expanding its service model with things like Xbox Game Pass and the still-in-development Project xCloud. It’s setting the stage for a very interesting next generation if it can get the software support it needs from developers, including its own studios and third-party companies.

Still, as we learn more about Xbox Series X’s architecture, its games, and what Microsoft has in mind for the future it wishes to cultivate with the console, we still don’t know how much it’ll cost. Until Xbox Series X launches this holiday, our imaginations will likely continue to run wild, wondering about potential price points–at least until Microsoft finally confirms it during one its Xbox 20/20 streams.

This is the exact page we’ll be updating with any news on Black Friday Xbox Series X deals and bundles in the build-up. We’ll also have the sales themselves right here too.

If you do want to fly solo, however, then we’re more than happy to point you in the right direction. If you’re in the US, then Best Buy will most likely be your best bet for scoring a console. We’ve seen this retailer offer console bundles with fair regularity, although its prices are often slightly beaten by Amazon, which is another good retailer to consider.

Over in the UK, Argos, Box, and Currys all have fairly regular console restocks, although it’s often Game who has the most. Fair warning with Game – this retailer often makes use of a queue system, so you’ll probably have to be on your toes to make sure you get a spot.

Across all regions, it’s also a good idea to keep an eye on the official Xbox website. While this official vendor always sells its stock at full retail price , it has a unique opt-in Xbox All Access program. This allows customers to pay for their consoles in monthly instalments – heavily offsetting that hefty upfront price.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Deals

Over the past couple of years, Microsoft has put a rather good offer live for new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers over Black Friday. With it, first-time members can get 3 months of Game Pass Ultimate for just £1/$1. Definitely a great way to try out the already excellent value service if you haven’t yet.

For existing customers, what can you expect? Well, there’s a 50 per cent off discount that’s cropped up in the past. We haven’t seen that for some time now, but Microsoft could bring something similar back for the Xbox Black Friday deals bonanza. Part of us thinks they might be winding down that offering now, though, considering the massive jump in subscriber numbers over the last year and the increasing value of membership.

What Are The Hardware Specifications Of The Xbox Series S

The Xbox Series S will have a custom 512 GB NVMe SSD, down from the 1 TB of internal storage offered on the Xbox Series X. The lower-powered system has a similar CPU to the Xbox Series Xs, according to Microsoft it will use the same AMD Zen 2 architecture, but is downclocked a hair to run at 3.6 GHz with SMT off and 3.4 GHz with SMT on, rather than 3.8 GHz and 3.6 GHz, respectively. The Series S comes with 10 GB of GDDR6 RAM, and has a lower memory bandwidth.

With these specs, Microsoft says the Xbox Series S should be able to run all the same games as the Xbox Series X with similar frame rate performance of up to 120 fps, but at native 1440p rather than native 4K. The Series S also runs on the same Xbox Velocity Architecture, which should keep the load times on both consoles similarly short. Another slightly more practical difference is that the Series S doesnt have a disc drive.
