Xbox Series X Price Vs Playstation 5 Price
After many leaks and speculation, Sony confirmed the PS5 Digital and PS5 prices at £360 and £450 respectively. That came as a pleasant surprise to those who’d expected the PS5 to be priced much higher than the rival Xbox Series X.
As it turns out, the full-fat PS5 and Xbox Series X cost the same, although the all-digital Series S undercuts the PS5 Digital Edition by a fair margin of £90 .
Bear in mind, however, that the Xbox Series S is less powerful than the Series X, whereas the PS5 Digital Edition is identical to the standard PS5 except for the lack of a disc drive.

Xbox Series X Review: How T3 Tested The Console
T3 used the 2020 model LG CX55 4K TV to test the Xbox Series X.
The Xbox Series X is Microsoft’s next-gen flagship console, and as it comes with a host of powerful display options and features, we wanted to do it justice in terms of the TV we used. We needed the best gaming TV on the market today.
The natural choice was the T3 Awards 2020-winning LG CX, which has not only received a maximum score of 5 stars from us in our LG CX review, but is also top of our prestigious best gaming TV guide, too.
This is a panel that was perfect for making use of the Series X advanced gaming features, with its 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, 4K resolution, and AMD Freesync compatibility which is ideal for making games look amazing.

Xbox Series X Vs Xbox Series S: Key Differences
If you only walk away with three key differences in mind, let it be these: the Xbox Series X has a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive that’s capable of playing physical games and movies while the Xbox Series S does not the Xbox Series X has a large 1TB SSD that can store, on average, around 16 games while the Xbox Series S has a 512GB SSD that only stores around four to five and the Xbox Series X renders games in native 4K at 60 frames-per-second, while the Xbox Series S targets 1440p.
Otherwise, both will have the same user interface, the same controller and the same Xbox Velocity Architecture that enables features like Quick Resume. Both have the same media apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and more, and more importantly, both can play exactly the same games.
More people seem drawn to the power of the Xbox Series X from what we’ve seen so far, but that’s not to discount the advantages of the more affordable model. Both work well and both can serve a different audience.
Let’s break them down even further.
First up is the Xbox Series X, Microsofts flagship console thats capable of 4K graphics and promises to be the most powerful console ever made. On paper the specs are very impressive, and it has a unique, tower-style design that weve never seen from a console manufacturer before. It costs a pretty penny, though, at $499 / £449 / AU$749, the same price as the PS5, which releases 2-9 days later depending on where you live.

New Games New Hardware
New hardware needs new games to make the most of it, and Microsoft and its partners have announced a host of games that are coming to its new console. The biggest of these is Halo: Infinite, the latest entry in the long-running sci-fi first-person shooter franchise thats become synonymous with the Xbox brand since its debut way back in 2001.
Unfortunately, Microsoft recently delayed Halo: Infinite, meaning it will now release in 2021, rather than arriving alongside the new console. News of the delay, which Microsoft attributed in part to the pandemic, came after the games visuals were met with criticism after their initial unveiling, prompting developer 343 Industries to admit, We do have work to do to address some of these areas and raise the level of fidelity and overall presentation for the final game.
With other Xbox staples like Fable and Forza Motorsport without release dates, the delay has left third-party publishers to fill in the rest of the launch lineup, including Assassins Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5, Watch Dogs Legion, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Heres a guide to the best launch day games, and heres what the months ahead are looking like in terms of new releases.
Assassins Creed Valhalla is a high-profile launch title for the new consoles.
Xbox Series X And Series S Price In India Vs The Us
But if you live outside the US, these next-gen game consoles wont come cheap. In India, the Xbox Series X costs Rs 49,990, which roughly translates to $680. The flagship Xbox Series X costs roughly $180 more in India compared to the US. Similarly, the cheaper Xbox Series S costs $299 in the US. But in India, you will have to pay Rs 36,990 or $503 for the Series S, which is marketed as the budget-friendly next-gen Xbox console. Thats a lot of money to shell out on Microsofts next consoles.
Theres a catch, though. While the UK and Singapore prices are inclusive of taxes, American prices dont include taxes, which can be as high as 10 per cent in some states. In California, you have to pay $328 for the Series S, thanks to the states 9.25 per cent sales tax. Still, buying an Xbox console from the US is way cheaper.

You Can Still Play Your Old Gamesand Theyll Look Better
If you want to get the new system but dont see many new games youre interested in, virtually all of your old games will work on the new consoles. The Xbox Series X and Series S offer nearly blanket backward compatibility, meaning that your existing libraries of Xbox Onecompatible software will run on the Xbox Series X and Series S. Whats more, every Xbox Onecompatible piece of software will, according to Microsoft , run and look better on these new systems than it did on previous-generation consoles. The Auto HDR feature, which uses an algorithm to tweak a games picture to take advantage of modern televisions ability to show brighter images with better contrast, leads to a beautiful new sense of vibrance in games like Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. There are a few games where this feature results in image quality that looks a little funny, but it can be disabled on a per game basis.
Microsoft also recently introduced FPS Boost, the official term for a proprietary software technique that allows the Xbox Series consoles to effectively double the targeted framerate of backwards compatible games without the need for official patches from the original developer. For some games, this means 60 FPS or thereabouts for the first time on consoles. For others, it means 120 FPS with supported televisions.
Xbox Game Pass: $100 /96
Xbox Game Pass offers you access to more than 100 Xbox games, from modern Xbox One titles to classics from the original Xbox. And it now offers access to a suite of Electronic Arts games by bundling in an EA Play membership, all for a monthly fee of $9.99/£7.99. This is one of gaming’s best bargains. It will also get better as all future first-party Xbox games will be made available on Game Pass from the day of their release. With Microsoft buying Bethesda, you can also expect a suite of games from its studios to get added to the service.
Game Pass is basically the killer app for the Xbox Series X and one wed deem essential. However, that means you need to part with some $100/£96 per year for the standard Xbox Game Pass subscription. Opt for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which throws in PC games and game streaming to Android phones, and youll need to part with $14.99/£10.99 per month its a superb bargain, but still adds to the overall cost of owning an Xbox Series X.

Xbox Fans Furious At Scalpers Over Mini Fridge Sell Out
Today, pre-orders for the Xbox Series X mini fridge went on sale, and it went about the way most fans have come to expect from anything video game related. Pre-orders for the fridge promptly sold out online, and eBay is already flooded with auctions for the item, with bids more than a hundred dollars over the item’s $99 MSRP. So, once again, fans are forced to deal with resellers that scooped them up immediately online, only to sell the pre-order before the item is even in hand. Understandably, fans are quite upset, and many took to social media to share their frustration.
While video game merchandise has always been tough to secure at launch, the last year has led to a lot of understandable frustration from gamers. It seems that any hot item will inevitably sell out in seconds, and fans that want it will have to spend significantly more, or hope for a restock from the manufacturer. At this point, there are no easy answers, but fans are desperately hoping to see businesses find some way to prevent resellers from continuing to do this.
Keep reading to see what fans are saying about the Xbox Series X mini fridge sell outs!
When Will The Best Xbox Series X Black Friday Deals Start In 2021
Generally speaking, the Black Friday deals season can start as early as late October and early November, even though Black Friday itself is in late November . Things really start to heat up in the week following Thanksgiving – which is when retailers tend to start dropping their sales and price matching on a wide range of categories.
Because Xbox Series X deals and bundles are a bit of an outlier in regards to stock and demand, it’s hard to determine when things will kick off exactly. We would, however, as a rule of thumb recommend being on guard from early November onwards. Last year the biggest Black Friday Xbox Series X stock drop was on November 18th, albeit from Amazon third-party sellers with inflated prices. It’s likely official retailers will have more stock this year, however, so it’s absolutely worth keeping an eye out ahead of the event.

Nobody Knows Yet But There Are Arguments To Be Made For Both High And Low
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are coming this year, but both Microsoft and Sony have been extremely cagey about pricing, leading many to fear the worst. Neither side of the console war wants to be first with pricing, and for good reason: Microsoft announced the Xbox Ones $499 launch price and was instantly undercut by Sonys $399 PS4.
In other words, showing your hand too early is asking for trouble, which means were in an amusing game of chicken. They have to reveal pricing before release, but which company will make the first move is still very much up for grabs.
In the meantime, we can but speculate. So just how much will the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X cost? Annoyingly, you can make cases for both enticingly cheap and eye-wateringly expensive.
Xbox Series X Review: Features And Controller
Xbox gamers will find the Series X controller very familiar.
The Xbox Series X comes with the new design wireless Xbox Controller, which anyone who has spent any time with an Xbox One console will be very familiar with. The new controller essentially shares the same design as the previous model, but has a few more design elements from the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller 2, which grants it a slightly more premium and mature aesthetic.
In the hand, this controller is as comfortable as ever, and comes with nice details like textured triggers and bumpers , and an updated hybrid D-pad that has been optimised for faster and smoother inputs.
The D-pad had been redesigned on the Series X controller.
As before, too, you get share, menu, and options buttons on this new wireless controller, which quickly allow you to record your gaming sessions, and access options. Naturally, the Xbox power button on the controller remains, as too do the XYBA button config, and dual thumbstick design.
The controller’s finish is the same, slightly coarse, matte black that past Xbox controllers have used, which looks clean and mature and isn’t too slippery. It does tend to attract finger smudge marks though, so for those gamers who like to keep their kit looking box fresh, regular cleaning will be in order.
Direct wired connections are handled by a USB Type-C port.
I personally have never had a single controller with fixed batteries die on me
The Xbox Series X controller is powered by two AA batteries.

Upcoming Xbox Series X Series S Restocks
- Walmart has confirmed that the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are going back in stock on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT. If you go to the landing pages, they also confirm this time for restock. No bundles here you can buy just the base consoles and controller at their regular MSRP. Just note that deals like this go out of stock fast.
- While Microsoft rarely announces Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S restocks, we’ve regularly seen the company drop new units on its website with no public announcement. The online listing for either console can sometimes be found “flickering,” with stock intermittently appearing over a few minutes. It never hurts to check the Microsoft Store, in case you get lucky.
- Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S restocks aren’t too common, but Walmart has been among the few retailers with multiple pre-announced order windows in the U.S. These opportunities present a fixed time where stock goes live, although often lasting just a few seconds. You’ll likely hear about these before they go live, and we’ll be providing the latest on this page.
We’ll add more details on restocks, once available from retailers.
Xbox Series X Price: Streaming Apps
Microsoft has confirmed which streaming apps are available on the Xbox Series X. The big news? The Apple TV app is available from day one. That puts the console on a par with Sony’s PS5.
Microsoft also confirmed that the consoles will run all streaming apps currently available for the Xbox One consoles, with a few exceptions. The BBC iPlayer app didn’t work on Xbox Series X/S at launch but Microsoft has now rectified that.
So far the list includes :

How Much Does It Cost To Run An Xbox Series X Per Hour
Now that we know the power consumption, we can simply use the average cost of electricity to work out the costs of running a Series X for an hour across the different modes.
The table below shows how much it costs to run an Xbox Series X for an hour in the US, Canada and the UK.
In the US, on average, it costs 2.7 cents per hour of gaming on the Xbox Series X. At maximum capacity, it costs over 4 cents per hour, while in standby mode it costs just close to of 1 cent.
On average, in Canada, it costs 3.2 cents per hour when gaming on the Series X. It costs closer to 5 cents per hour at max capacity and nearly ½ of 1 cent per hour on standby.
In the UK, it costs 3.6p per hour of gaming on the Xbox Series X. At maximum capacity, it costs 5.4p per hour to run. While on standby, it costs just under ½ of 1p.
But how much does it cost over a longer period of time?
Is The Xbox All Access Advantageous
Xbox says there is no additional cost to the proposed credit. When we do the math, we realize that the total price over 24 months is only the addition of the cost of the Xbox Series X | S console and that of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription over 24 months. It is even slightly more advantageous to go through the Xbox All Access offer, unless you plan to afford the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in promotion as it is found here at 7.66 per month for example.
Here is a comparison between buying the console in one go + the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 24 month subscription at full price, and going through the Xbox All Access offer:
|Xbox Series X via Xbox All Access||24 x 32,99||791,76|
Now that the Xbox All Access price is confirmed on Xbox Series X at 32.99 for 24 months, we can say that it is cheaper than buying the console and a full price Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership separately.
Note however that buying 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in promotion + a console separately is still cheaper and saves more than a hundred euros in two years compared to the All Access offer .
