Gta 5 Xbox Series X And Ps5 Release Date And Improvements
In case you didn’t mark it on your calendar the first time around, the Xbox Series X and PS5 versions of “GTA 5” and “GTA Online” will be out on March 15, 2022 one week from the day this article is set to be published. Rockstar previously confirmed that the Xbox Series X and PS5 versions of these games will offer various graphics modes, including Fidelity Mode, which favors resolution and puts framerate to 30fps Performance Mode, which cranks the framerate to 60 fps at the expense of resolution and Performance RT mode, which is something of a hybrid that blends raytracing with higher framerates.
In addition, Rockstar also says that these next-gen versions will offer faster loading times and increased density of things like populations, traffic, and vegetation. Players can transfer their story progress from the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game by uploading their saves to the Rockstar Games Social Club via “GTA 5’s” in-game pause menu. In addition, “GTA Online” progress will automatically transfer when the game is booted up on either Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5.
Gta 5 Gta Online Ps5 And Xbox Series X Pricing Revealed
With the next-gen versions of both “Grand Theft Auto 5” and “GTA Online” on the horizon, today we’re finally learning how much each version will cost. Rockstar has been trickle-releasing details about these PS5 and Xbox Series X ports, though all this time, it hasn’t talked about pricing. While there’s still no official word from Rockstar on the topic of pricing, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of both games have gone up for pre-order, giving us a clearer picture of how much they’ll cost at launch and beyond.
Sadly, as IGN points out, it seems that there won’t be any free cross-gen upgrades for “Grand Theft Auto 5” and “GTA Online,” which is a particular bummer when you consider that by the time gamers buy “GTA 5” and its online counterpart on PS5 and Xbox Series X, many of them will have purchased the game across three different console generations, including Xbox 360/PS3 and Xbox One/PS4. Then again, there’s a reason why “GTA 5” and “GTA Online” are still raking in millions of dollars per day , and it’s not because Rockstar is giving them away for free.

Is Gta Online Free
To gain access to GTA Online, you need to own GTA 5. If you already own GTA 5, then it’s not free. If you don’t already own GTA 5, then GTA Online will cost exactly the same amount as you can buy GTA 5 for.
So, no, basically. While the online mode has far outlived its singleplayer counterpart, it’s still attached to it, and therefore costs a little bit of money to gain access.
That is, of course, assuming you didn’t get it for free when it was free on the Epic Game Store.
Xbox Players Should Pay $10 More For Gta 5 Enhanced Edition For A Limited Time
While Rockstar has not confirmed the official pricing for Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced Edition yet, the pre-orders for the game are now live, and the full bundle of GTA for next-gen consoles costs $39.99 on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
That being said, Rockstar offers a limited-time discount on both platforms, and while PS5 players can get the full bundle for $9.99 at the moment, Xbox Series X|S owners need to pay $19.99, which means PlayStation players get more discount.
Such biased pricing for GTA 5 Enhanced Edition has already made Xbox players unhappy with Rockstars approach. However, Xbox fans seem to be worried more about GTA 6 than GTA 5. If Sony makes any exclusivity deal with Rockstar Games towards their next Grand Theft Auto title, it would definitely hurt Xbox fans badly.
Rockstar Games has already ditched PC for the next-gen update of GTA 5 as the developer has never been kind toward the PC players, but now showing less interest in Xbox could be a little bit worrying for those who dont own a PS5.
That being said, the relationship between Xbox and Rockstar has always been good, regarding the fact that we have already seen GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, and GTA San Andreas Remastered on Xbox Game Pass multiple times.
Its worth noting that GTA Online is available for free for up to three months for PS5 owners who have a PS Plus subscription, while there is no such deal for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox Series X|S.

The next-gen console edition of Grand Theft Auto 5 is available for purchase in two configurations. One is the standard purchase containing both Story Mode and Online, while the other is simply the standalone GTA Online. Interestingly, this standalone Online Mode is also being sold at a considerable discount of 50% up to June this year.
The discount has been confirmed to be available on the Microsoft Store. Currently, it’s unconfirmed whether the PlayStation 5 version will be getting the same discount or not. However, a few players have reported that it will be available with the exact same offer.
If this is true, it would mean that PS5 players are getting a better deal, since GTA Online is already free for the first three months on the console. Based on the regions, here’s how much the games cost on both consoles:
- Grand Theft Auto V – £34.99 / 39.99 / AU$59.95
- Grand Theft Auto Online – £17.26 / 20.85 / AU$30.95
With the 50% discount being applicable from March 8, 2022 to June 14, 2022, this could very well convince many players to get them during the limited time period.
Here are the approximate discounted prices of the games after applying a 50% discount:
- Grand Theft Auto V – £17.49 / 19.99 / AU$29.97
- Grand Theft Auto Online – £8.63 / 10.42 / AU$15.47
Note: The prices for the standalone online mode are based on exchange rates, as only the Australian prices have been revealed till now.
Does Gta Online Have A Monthly Fee
Good news though, once you own GTA 5, and by extension GTA Online, it’s yours forever. There’s no monthly fee, nothing you need to spend to stay in the game.
There are a plethora of things you can spend money on, most of which will simply help you progress a little faster, but you don’t actually have to spend any money.
Given that many players will have well over a hundred hours in this mode, it’s definitely worth the price of admission, especially if you can pick up a copy for cheap. So, that’s what you need to know about the price of GTA Online.

Gta 5 And Gta Online Xbox Series X And Ps5 Pricing
As outlined in the IGN article linked above, both “GTA 5” and “GTA Online” will be discounted for their first few months of availability on Xbox Series X and PS5. IGN reports that on PS5, “GTA 5” will be priced at $39.99 regularly a price that also nets you access to “GTA Online” but for the first three months of availability, it’ll be 75% off, bringing the price down to $9.99 for both.
That’s not a bad discount, but if you’re only interested in playing “GTA Online,” remember that it’ll be free for three months via PlayStation Plus, and those who claim it during that three-month period will get to keep it for as long as they keep their PS Plus subscriptions active. Once that promotion ends, “GTA Online” will run $19.99 as a standalone product.
The Xbox Series X versions of “GTA 5” and “GTA Online” will only be 50% off rather than 75% off like the PS5 versions. For the first three months after release, the bundle that includes both “GTA 5” and “GTA Online” will cost $19.99, rising to $39.99 after. The standalone version of “GTA Online,” meanwhile, will cost $9.99 for the first three months and $19.99 after, so sorry Xbox fans, but there are no freebies for your platform of choice.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Half Price For First Three Months On Ps5 Xbox Series X/s
Grand Theft Auto 5 is just one week away from its long-awaited debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S – and the game’s newly revealed digital store pre-order listings have confirmed a 50 percent introductory discount for the first three months of its release.
Exactly how much you’ll be paying depends very much on where you plan to play it, however.
For Xbox Series X/S owners, a bundle with both GTA 5 Story Mode and GTA Online costs £17.49, down from £34.99 for three months, until 14th June. Separately, GTA Online is listed at £8.99, down from £17.99.
Over on PS5, GTA Online and GTA 5 Story Mode can be picked up together for cheaper, costing just £8.75 for both on the PlayStation Store for the first three months after launch. After, the pair will cost £34.99.
The discrepancy in pricing is because – announced back in June 2020 – Sony brokered a deal with developer Rockstar Games to give away GTA Online on PS5 for the first three months of release. This timeframe is the same as Rockstar’s introductory discount – meaning PS5 and Xbox Series X/S prices will align thereafter.
PlayStation 5, until 14th June:
- GTA Online: Free
- GTA Online and Story Mode: £8.75/$9.99
Xbox Series X/S, until 14th June:
- GTA Online: £8.99/$9.99
- GTA Online and Story Mode: £17.49/$19.99
PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, after 14th June:
- GTA Online £17.45/$19.99
- GTA Online and Story Mode: £34.99/$39.99
