The Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S are home video game consoles developed by Microsoft. They were both released on November 10, 2020, as the fourth generation of the Xbox console family, succeeding the Xbox One family. Along with Sony’s PlayStation 5, also released in November 2020, the Xbox Series X and Series S are part of the ninth generation of video game consoles.

Xbox Series X Vs Ps: Which Console Had The Better Year In 2021

Ever since the first Xbox was released in 2001, gamers have been divided on whether Microsoft‘s brand or Sony’s PlayStation is superior.

The pendulum tends to swing back and forth between different hardware generations. After all, the general consensus was that the PS2 thrashed the original Xbox by every conceivable metric, but the 360 console proved to be much tougher competition for Sony in the mid-2000s.

When it comes to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, it’s far too early to predict which will ultimately come out on top. However, we can look over the past year to see which one is faring best right now as of 2021.

Wading into the everlasting console war, Newsweek has considered five broad areas. Namely, we have reflected on the quality of their exclusive releases this year, their overall libraries, the lifetime sales figures, which one delivers the best user experience, and what the future holds.

When Will Xbox Series X Restock

There is no official announcement of restocking for pre-orders, but Xbox has officially told the players that a new batch of consoles for the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S will be ready for them to purchase during the release of the next-generation consoles on the 10th November 2020.

Xbox tweeted, We are humbled by the record-breaking demand for Xbox Series X and S. Huge thanks to everyone for the excitement. If you weren’t successful today be sure to sign up with retailers for updates and expect more consoles to be available on November 10. humbled by the record-breaking demand for Xbox Series X and S. Why Is The Xbox Tough To Find

Essentially, Microsoft hasn’t been able to get the materials it needs to make enough Xbox consoles to meet demand. As with the PlayStation 5 and most PC video cards, there’s a chip shortage right now that is slowing supply. The pandemic affected production for a lot of chip manufacturers, and industry watchers currently don’t expect the issue to be entirely resolved for months to come.

As a result, Microsoft makes as many consoles as it can and distributes them among its retail partners. Each retailer releases its available consoles in whatever way it deems appropriate. Most of the time, this means announcing ahead of time when you’ll be able to buy the console online and then releasing it for anyone to buy.

Xbox Series X/s Recent Sales Estimates

PS5 vs Xbox Series X sales: How many PS5 consoles have ...

Microsoft made a pretty bold bet this generation by offering two console tiers, with the Xbox Series X being the definitive place to enjoy next-gen games while the Xbox Series S is aimed at casual gamers or those who are on a tight budget. Of course, both come with their own advantages and disadvantages – but Microsofts efforts towards catering to a much wider audience than before have been successful.

This sentiment is reflected in sales figures for the consoles. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has already said in a recent interview that Xbox Series X/S has been the best-selling consoles in the companys history. The fact that these consoles have been outselling the Xbox 360 is intriguing. This alone would put the consoles well above the 8 million mark, which is still respectable enough when compared against PS5s 13 million+ sales mark. However, Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners has estimated that Xbox Series X/S has sold over 12 million units. If these estimates are to be believed, Microsoft isnt as far behind Sony which changes a lot of things for both parties.

A recent report from an analyst shows that PlayStation 5 sold twice as many consoles as Xbox Series X & S.

The battle between Sony and Microsoft has been ever-present, with the two consoles constantly competing in the industry.

Both have now released their next-generation gaming consoles, with gamers highly anticipating the releases for a while now.

The new PlayStation 5 had a spectacular release with the company selling out of consoles, leaving some unfortunate gamers empty handed.

There will always be a debate about which is the better gaming console, and gamers will usually keep their loyalties to one or the other. However, from both launches this year, Sony seem to have been victorious in terms of sales.

According to VGChartz, Sony saw the next-gen PlayStation 5 sell a maximum possible total of 2.5 million consoles when launched. With some countries having an earlier release day than others, the totals added together to generate this remarkable statistic.

The study showed that on November 12, there were between 1.3 million and 1.6 million consoles sold. A week later, on November 19, where the PlayStation 5 was released to the rest of the world, between 800,000 and 900,000 units were sold to gamers.

Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X and S was released to the world on November 10, with everyone able to purchase the console.

The statistics show that between 1.2 million and 1.4 million Xbox consoles were sold within 24 hours of its release.

When Will The Xbox Series X And Series S Be Easy To Find

Xbox Exec: Series X Pre

The Xbox Series X and Series S launched on November 10, 2020, and have been in short supply ever since. This supply shortage, which also affects Sonys PlayStation 5, PC graphics cards and other components, as well as microprocessors used in vehicle production and other electronics-based devices, is widespread, related to Covid-19 and other production problems, and is likely to persist throughout 2021. The Xbox Series S has recently become easier to find, though its often out of stock. We expect it will be difficult to find an Xbox Series X until some time in 2022.

Xbox Series X Sold Out

Reports suggest that Xbox Series X and Series S have been sold out at major retailers already. In the UK, The USA, and many more places, the pre-orders have been sold out. It was a smart tactic by Microsoft to allow the users to pre-order a lot earlier than its release date so that they can measure the demand for the console and accordingly provide the supply for it.

Every major retailer had its own ways to balance this type of demand for the console. Places like Amazon and BestBuy did not go online with the pre-orders until an hour later of the pre-given time by Microsoft. Places like GameStop had to put in artificial queues on their website to conduct the sales in an orderly fashion and also to not overload the server with users. Find a list of retailers that have announced the Xbox Series X and Series S has been sold out below:

  • BestBuy
  • Target
  • Microsoft

All of these retailers have announced that the console is sold out and the customers should check again when the console hits the stores.

Xbox Series X And S Are Microsoft’s Fastest

Sales for Xbox Series X and S have out-paced all previous Xbox console generations, according to Phil Spencer.

The boss of Xbox discussed the commercial performance of the two consoles on a recent New York Times podcast. The Xbox Series X and S were released 14 months ago on November 10, 2020, and Spencer says that “at this point, we’ve sold more of this generation of Xboxes, which is Xbox Series X and S, than we had any previous version of Xboxes.”

There are two important qualifiers here. Firstly, Spencer obviously isn’t referring to lifetime sales. The Xbox 360’s total sales, which topped 85 million units by most estimates, remain unmatched within Microsoft, but the Xbox Series X and S have set a new record for the 14-month mark.

It’s also important to remember that this generation of Xbox consoles had the enormous benefit of launching with two different models with dramatically different price points, with the Xbox Series S positioned as a much more affordable option. There’s a reason the Xbox Series S was the best-selling console during Black Friday 2021.

At the same time, Microsoft, along with Sony and Nintendo, has also had to contend with unprecedented supply shortages and distribution bottlenecks primarily caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, Spencer maintains that while new consoles are still hard to find and may stay that way well into 2023, according to some reports “it’s not because supply is smaller than it’s ever been.”

You can also transfer games and saves from an Xbox One console to an Xbox Series X or Series S over your network or via a USB hard drive. And if you have an Xbox 360 but dont have an Xbox One, good news: Microsoft is making cloud saves for Xbox 360 owners free, separate from your Xbox Live subscription.

For games with an Xbox One version separate from the Xbox Series X and Series S versionsuch as NBA 2K21 or save compatibility falls on the developer to implement .
