Get A Compatible Wireless Headset For Your Xbox Series X/s

If youd like to avoid the hassle or just need a wireless headset for gaming anyway, getting a compatible headset with your Xbox Series X or S will be the way to go.

Compatible headsets ship with their own USB transmitters. You can plug these transmitters into your console, and your headset should automatically start picking audio after turning it on. Your headsets microphone will also work without any problems since the adapters can easily transmit your voice.

Pay attention to the labels while shopping for compatible headsets, though, since the ones that will work on your Xbox will have an Xbox sticker to showcase it. Check out their supported ranges since how far youre sitting at the console will be essential for the best audio quality.

If you sit too far away from the console or there are obstacles in the way, your audio quality may drop, or you may even witness some noticeable input lag. Most wireless headsets have excellent range, however, meaning you should be fine unless you decide to play from your living room while your Xbox is in your bedroom.

How To Connect Bluetooth Headphones To The Xbox Series X

Despite the Xbox Series X not having Bluetooth, there is a way you can use wireless headsets with the console.

To do this youll have to buy a Bluetooth USB adapter which youll connect to the Xbox Series X controller which has the Bluetooth feature.

You cannot use the Bluetooth USB adapter with the console because the Xbox Series X doesnt have the necessary drivers to make it work.

There are many Bluetooth adapters on the market, however, the one you choose to purchase has to be compatible with the Xbox Series X controller.

I bought the Gstef USB Bluetooth Adapter, which I recommend because for the time I have used it with my Xbox controller, it has served me well.

Once you get the Bluetooth adapter follow these steps to be able to use your headphones with the Xbox Series X.

1:Insert the Bluetooth adapter into the Bottom port on your Xbox controller, then turn on the controller and adapter.

2: Put the adapter in pairing mode. You can do this by pressing the pairing button on the device.

5:Wear your headphones and start playing a game on your Xbox Series X to see if youll get audio. You should be able to.

    Handling Your Bluetooth Headphones

Most Bluetooth headphones do not come with a significant drop rating. If they fall from your head to the pavement, theyll likely break.

Earbuds have more resiliency because of their size, although theyre still vulnerable to a fall.

If you use the wired connection with some Bluetooth headphones, please remember to pull from the jack instead of the cord.

Although most models use copper wire, it is a thin gauge. Using plenty of force can cause it to snap.

So Which Xbox One Controller Has Bluetooth

There are three revisions of the regular Xbox One controller: 1537, 1697 and 1708. Only the last of these has Bluetooth built-in, meaning it can be easily used with laptops, smart TVs and phones.

The 1537 model is easy enough to spot it has the words DAY ONE 2013 embossed on the front but at a glance 1697 and 1708 look remarkably similar. This picture, via Reddit, shows the key difference.

In short, if the section with the Xbox Guide button is the same material as the shoulder triggers, youre using an older 1697 pad. If its the same plastic as the front of the controller, then happy days! youve got a 1708 model, and can pair it with pretty much anything using the Bluetooth standard.

If youre still not sure which model youre holding, then crack open the battery compartment and youll find the model number inside. Heres my non-Bluetooth 1697 model:

While that closes the door on using this Xbox One pad with my phone, I can still use it with a PC.

    Prevents Your Fingers From Slipping

Though the design of the controller remains rather similar from its predecessor on the previous-gen, the ergonomics of the new one have received a few updates. Microsoft controller design experts focus on playtesting to improve their controllers, while keeping in mind the things that gamers look for in a new controller.

The subtle, but effective, changes in the new design focus on enhanced, anti-slipping technology. The triggers and grips on the controller feature dotted inlays that prevent your fingers from slipping. The D-pad has also been updated, and is now a concave circular button with multidirectional inputs that keep your thumb firmly in place.
