What Phil Spencer In Charge Of Xbox Thinks Of Vr

What you need to play your Xbox one on the Oculus Rift!ð?±â?ð¤

In 2015, Phil Spencer head of Xbox said this:

When we were working on Windows 10, we decided to go out and talk to the different people who were building these great VR experiences Valve, all these guys and see what we can do in Windows 10 to make this the best possible platform for VR. Weve been taking that feedback and all that is in our road map for Windows 10. Thats been helpful.

In that same interview, he was actually talking about streaming Xbox games to Oculus Rift, but he didnt make any mention of creating a personal VR headset or allowing Oculus Rift to play Xbox games .

In 2016, Phil Spencer head of Xbox, said this about VR:

I hope Sony has success with what theyre trying to do because I think its good for our industry as innovations like VR take off. But for me, and where we are with Xbox, my bet is putting the development tools in the hands of literally millions of people who can go on Windows and start building their own VR experiences is likely to lead to faster content innovation than a closed ecosystem would.

To summarize, he basically confirms that he wants to focus on the Windows side and make Windows 10 the best platform for VR gaming.

In 2017, Phil Spencer head of Xbox, said this about VR:

The overall saying is that they want to be ready for the future, but they are not ready to be competitive.

In 2018, Mike Nichols Chief of Xbox marketing, said this about VR:

In 2019, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, said this:

He later added:

Do Any Vr Headsets Work With Xbox One & Series X

No. Not every VR headset is compatible with Xbox. According to the latest update from Microsoft , VR support is not available for the Xbox One or the newer Xbox Series X.;

However, this does not mean that you cannot connect a VR headset to an Xbox One or an Xbox Series X console.

You can connect popular VR headset brands like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive to your Xbox consoles without much fuss.

It is very easy to do so as long as you have the right equipment and streaming software.;

The only difference is that you wont have that immersive experience as is the case with other applications that support VR headsets.

Xbox does not support any VR headsets meaning the immersive elements and real-life experience will be missing as the headsets only function as a second screen.

This is not the full VR experience that gamers are looking for, but it remains an interesting option for those who want to play with a VR headset.

It appears Microsoft is not ready to pursue the idea of manufacturing their own VR headsets. Apparently, producing wireless headsets for the Xbox One and the Series X is somewhat expensive, thus Microsoft is reluctant to provide native support for VR headsets.

At one point, Microsoft had its own VR system known as the Kinect, which combined elements of augmented reality and virtual reality. The VR system was however discontinued after it became too costly to pursue the idea.

Xbox Head Phil Spencer Rules Out Vr For Xbox Series X

Xbox lead Phil Spencer has, once again, ruled out VR support for the upcoming Xbox Series X.

Speaking to the Gamertag Radio podcasts 1000th episode, Spencer outlined Microsoft and Xbox in particulars stance on VR, saying there are no plans for any sort of virtual reality supporting the next generation of Xbox consoles.

Were not going to do that. I understand certain people would want that, we have to focus our efforts on the things were doing right now. And the most precious resource that we have is the team and their ability and I just have to focus on the things were doing right now.

He expanded upon his comment about resources later in the video, suggesting Xbox would be unable to provide the same full VR experience as Sony on PlayStation VR, or Valve and Oculus on PC,

VR is not as simple as plugging your headset; you have to redo the dash, like theres a bunch of work that goes into it. And the teams at Valve, the teams at Sony, the teams at Oculus that are doing that work, they know the completeness and what it means to support the platform.

Despite those previous comments, Spencer wasnt entirely down on VR in this latest interview. He name dropped Sonys upcoming Iron Man VR, and stated he knows people that are working on some good VR titles, great VR titles, and Im not trying to not be supportive of that to use a double negative.

Streaming Games From An Xbox One

The second gaming option is having the ability to stream from an Xbox One. Microsoft previously revealed that Windows 10 users will be able to stream games from their Xbox One to a PC. This capability is essentially Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s sophisticated PlayStation Now service , its PS4 Remote Play , and Nvidia’s Grid service .

So, while all Windows 10 users will be able to stream their Xbox One games to their PC, Oculus owners will then have the extra ability of being able to view those games in the headset instead of on their PC screen. Keep in mind, however, that these streamed Xbox One games won’t have the same immersion as native Oculus VR games. From what we saw at the Oculus press event, Xbox One games will be played on the Rift in a “virtual living room.”

Why play your Xbox in a virtual living room elsewhere in your home — instead of your actual living room? We can imagine, for instance, the home’s big-screen TV being monopolized for watching a hockey game or a kids’ show, while you still get to play Halo 5 multiplayer.

Why Isnt Vr Supported On Xbox One Or Xbox Series X

does oculus rift work on xbox 360

Your first question is probably why? If Microsoft already has its own VR platform, surely the next logical step would to be include this in the game consoles? Well, it looks like this wasnt the case.;

Essentially, Microsoft believed that it would be too expensive to manufacture new VR headsets that would be compatible with the Xbox One or Xbox Series X. Not only would it increase prices for them, but also their customers.

So, dont get your hopes up, because they dont seem to be changing their minds any time soon!

I Dont Know How To Feel About This

While it initially sounds rather impressive, namely getting that much tech into just a VR headset, we shouldnt forget that the PS3 and XBox 360 technology, in terms of power, is around 12-years old now. You could even make the argument that the technology released, it wasnt exactly new, albeit the PS3 was, by console standards, one of the most advanced systems released in the tech curve sense.

Thats what makes gaming so enhanced and fulfilling, as they build upon mental and neurological growth and spurt new ideas and ways to solve complex situations.;

Being headsets with infrared sensors that track movements of your head to give an all-around immersive experience is the most considerable hype amongst everyone alive, be it younger children or older teens, or adults alike. Thoughts On The Oculus Quest : Should Xbox Make A Run At Vr

A couple of years ago, I wrote a piece about my thoughts on VR as it stood back then, having used the cheapest, most awkward solution, HP’s old Windows Mixed Reality headset. Despite the awkwardness of using that device, I still fancied the tech. The experience of mining in Minecraft VR in first-person was vivid, and blasting zombies in Arizona Sunshine VR just doesn’t get old. At least, until you start feeling VR-fatigued, that is.

As intrigued as I was by VR in 2019, my interest in it began to wane over time. It didn’t seem like Microsoft’s run on affordable VR tech panned out, with the Microsoft Store and WMR effort largely falling by the wayside in recent years. In addition, competing solutions like the HTC Vive remain prohibitively expensive, or in the case of Oculus, frustratingly bound to the Facebook platform.

Still, my curiosity for the tech was sated recently when I got a chance to try the completely wireless Oculus Quest 2. It doesn’t require complicated beacon setups, nor does it require a powerful connected PC, tethered with a cable or two. This is ultimately the end-goal of VR, to be completely standalone, independent of an external device.

The Oculus Quest 2 is truly quite magical, but it doesn’t solve some of the core issues with VR, which makes me wonder if the tech will ever hit the mainstream, or remain a niche for hobbyists and enthusiasts. Could Xbox’s expertise bridge the gap?

Xbox One S Controller

Xbox One Streaming to Oculus Rift

Sadly, you cant use the first generation of Microsofts Xbox One controllers with your Go. Even the one that came bundled with the Oculus Rift wont work. If, however, you bought one of the Xbox One S controllers when they launched last year, or got one bundled with the Xbox One X, you should be good to go. Theres a round sync button at the top of the device, next to the charging port. All you need do is hold that and the controller should eventually show up on your phone. Tap the name and get into the game.

April 12, 2019 by Shrey

There are so many questions around this topic and to put them all to rest, YES, the Oculus Rift does work with your Xbox one and you are going to enjoy most of the games from the;Xbox One on your Rift.

Now, this method that we would discuss is pretty easy as the app is easily available on the Oculus Store and you can get started with playing an Xbox game on the Oculus Rift using this app.

Overall, we are pretty impressed with the app and you should definitely try it as it is pretty easy to use and the best part you can get it for FREE.

So, there is no harm in trying the app. The app allows you to play the game on a screen in VR so its more like you are playing the game on a big screen inside VR.

Many people might wonder, if you do not play the game in first person perspective then what is the point, I mean you could do this using the Virtual Desktop;app as well.

Honestly, the difference is the fact that the app recommended is much easier to use than the Virtual Desktop and once you look at the quality of the app, you are sure going to be impressed with everything about it.

Oculus Quest Will Have Perform Similar To Ps3/xbox 360

Earlier this week Oculus announced;a new upcoming release that would form the final part of their 1st-generation VR headsets. Namely, the Oculus Quest. The Quest represents something of a unique product in terms of VR headsets as Oculus are marketing it as a completely stand-alone VR system. One that will provide a rift-like experience, but without the need of a PC.

Exactly how this was going to be achieved was unclear. In a report via DSOGaming though, it has been revealed that Oculus anticipate that their VR headset will have a technology of a similar power to that seen with the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Will Oculus Rift Work With Xbox Together As Ps Vr Does

Thats the main question, right?

Here is what we know:

  • In 2016, people actually expected that Xbox Series X would support Oculus Rift, especially considering that Oculus Rift literally came with an Xbox controller.
  • That merge would have been perfect. Unfortunately, despite peoples expectations, that didnt lead anywhere.

    Now there are other merger moments.

    2. Microsofts in 2020. That could pave the way for additional partnerships, including regarding Facebooks Oculus Rift.

    Whether they plan to go further this time is uncertain and no official news has been brought up. People, however, dont lose hope.

    Its usually the first steps that are the hardest to make and seeing Phil Spencers recent comments, it is more than apparent that he doesnt mind being open-minded about it.

    3. Microsofts team has created Microsoft Flight Simulator, and that is a huge hit in the VR community, with people even having haunted dreams of being in a cockpit.

    Seeing such a response can definitely encourage hardware developers to innovate even more so.

    However, they are more focused on other projects like Hololens. Whether they plan to come around for VR soon is uncertain, but its apparent that they have plans for AR.

    Hololens is an awesome product, but its nowhere near mass consumer levels. So its a topic for another day.

    By the way, as I was researching this Xbox and VR topic, I ran into a product called Oculus Go Standalone Virtual Reality Headset 32GB Xbox 360; Xbox.
