How To Setup A Controller On Xemu
Configuring your controller using Xemu is easy and it doesnt require any mapping as far as my tests went. To set up your controller: Go to Machine> Input. a small window should pop up. Like this:
Alternatively, if you dont have a controller, you can use your keyboard. One thing I should note is that if your controller supports XInput, the emulator will map it for you as an Xbox controller.

Does It Work With Xbox Games I Bought Through Xbox Store
Xbox backward compatibility works with digital content as well as disc games. In fact, if you enter a supported disc into your Xbox One or Series X, the machine will download the game from the Xbox store first – although you will need the disc to be in the machine each time you play. This cannot work on an Xbox One S All-digital Edition or Xbox Series S, of course, as they do not feature disc drives.
If you own a digital copy of a supported game it appears in your games list ready for download. Check your My Games & Apps hub to see if any are listed among the games yet to be installed.

New Xbox exclusives also launch on the service, so you’ll get Halo Infinite and other upcoming games the day they become available. The $15 Game Pass Ultimate option will also get you access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, EA Play games and the ability to play many titles on PC.

The only exception to this is Kinect games. They rely on motion-sensing technology, which the Xbox Series X doesn’t support.
Playing an older generation Xbox game on the Xbox Series X comes with improved visual performance and faster loading times. This can be is a real blessing for some games.

The Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S are able to play Xbox 360 and original Xbox games through emulation software that makes your console think it’s a last generation machine for the purposes of playing classic games.
When a supported game is started on the machine, the current or last-gen console opens the emulator and, in all regards, the game works as if it was running on an Xbox 360 or 2001 Xbox. The opening screen appears first then the game will load.
All other aspects and features that would normally be available on an Xbox 360 or Xbox are available on the Xbox One/Series X/S too, including the hub on the former . In addition, all new features of the more recent Xbox consoles work, including the ability to take screen grabs and record and share video of gameplay.
Xbox Series X/S owners get additional bonuses too, with the latest consoles able to play many of the backward compatible Xbox 360 and Xbox games with Auto HDR enabled. This adds virtual high dynamic range contrast and colours to make the titles look better. Plus, many titles have FPS Boost enabled. This ups the frame rate the fames play in, which provides a smoother experience.
Enhancing Your Xbox Series X Games Library

How To Install And Play An Xbox 360 Game On Your Xbox One
If you dont have a game you want to play yet, there are two ways to get one. First, you can acquire a physical copy of the game. This can be either a new copy or a used copy, so you may be able to find a good deal on a website like eBay or Amazon .
Used copies work well because the Xbox One doesnt actually play the game from the disc. The Xbox One just needs to check the disc and verify what it is. The actual game is downloaded from Microsofts servers and run from your Xbox Ones hard drive. As long as the Xbox One can recognize the disc, youre fine.
Once you have the disc, insert it into your Xbox One. The Xbox One will tell you it needs to download an update for the game. Its really downloading the entire ported version of the game.
When its done, you just have to launch the game like you would any other. The Xbox One will need the games disc in its disc drive while you play it to confirm you do indeed own the game, but the game will actually run from the Xbox Ones internal drive and not the disc.
You can also purchase digital copies of Xbox 360 games from Microsofts Xbox store. If you already own a digital copy of the game, youll find it available for installation on your Xbox One alongside any normal Xbox One games you have. Head to My Games and Apps > Ready to Install to see games and apps you can install.

How To Play Original Xbox Games On Your Windows Pc
Playing Classic Xbox games on your PC is quite easy when using the right tools, in our case the Xemu emulator!
In this guide, we will be delving into how you can play your Original Xbox Games on your Windows PC.
The Original Xbox was Microsofts first foray into the gaming console market. The latter competed with the PlayStation 2, the Sega Dreamcast , and the Gamecube. Microsofts console introduced a handful of capabilities that made it a worthy competitor with Sonys PlayStation 2. For example, much better graphics quality compared to the PS2, online play thanks to Xbox Live, and the ability to play games online with or without a broadband connection.
Despite the success of the original Xbox, it took many years for an emulator capable of running games. Years after years, a myriad of emulators began to emerge. But once again, none of them was capable of running the games at a playable state. As a result, many went inactive, and nothing was heard ever since.
It was until 2021 that the emulation scene would finally witness a potential Xbox emulator capable of eventually running every title on the system. Each update brings the emulator closer to making the dream become true. The emulator which I am talking about is XEMU. Read all about the emulator down below.
Notice: I try to constantly update each emulator guide to be as accurate, helpful and fun to read as possible. Please if you notice any problem, dont hesitate to swarm me with your input. Thank you.

Microsofts Xbox Backward Compatibility Program Returns With 76 New Games
Microsoft put its Xbox backward compatibility program on hold two years ago, but its returning today for a final update to the catalog. To celebrate 20 years of Xbox, Microsoft is now adding 76 new games to the backward compatibility library today. Its a surprisingly long list of additions, including the entire Max Payne series, Skate 2, Dead or Alive Ultimate, and Star Wars Jedi Knight II.
This latest and final addition of 70+ titles to the backwards compatibility program was only possible through the passion and feedback from the community, explains Peggy Lo, compatibility program lead at Xbox. constant requests for specific titles and enhancements encouraged the backwards compatibility team to partner with the original creators to preserve thousands of games from over four generations of Xbox.
Every original Xbox or Xbox 360 game added today will support Auto HDR on Xbox Series X / S consoles, and original Xbox games will include a resolution increase, too. Xbox One X and Xbox Series X owners will see a 4x resolution increase on original Xbox games, with a 3x bump on Xbox Series S, and a 2x increase on Xbox One S and Xbox One consoles.
Eleven games are getting FPS Boost mode, with all 76 supporting Auto HDR.
Still, the list includes classics like Ridge Racer 6 and TimeSplitters 2. These titles alone could tempt many fans of these classics to purchase an Xbox Series X or Series S console to enjoy them again.

Xbox Series X And Series S
Microsoft has been more ambitious with backward compatibility. The $499 Xbox Series X and $299 Series S play original Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games. That’s four generations of games, stretching back to the first console’s 2001 launch.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original Xbox on Nov. 15, the company added more than 70 games to its backward compatibility catalog. However, it noted that this would be the last batch of old games it would make playable on its new consoles.
Old games get a visual boost on the Series X and Series S, by way of high dynamic range graphics. The new consoles’ hardware may also reduce game loading times and increase frame rates. It also offers the Quick Resume feature.
It also made several Xbox and Xbox 360 games available via Xbox Cloud Gaming, which means Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play them on an Android device.
Your Xbox 360 is largely irrelevant thanks to the Series X’s ability to play old games.
How Backwards Compatibility Works
The Xbox One isnt normally capable of playing Xbox 360 games. Instead, Microsoft created an emulator that simulates the Xbox 360s hardware and software. Xbox 360 games run inside this emulator. Its similar to how the virtual console games work on Nintendos Wii U and Wii, or how youd run old console games in emulators on a PC.
Not all games will run in the emulator. If you have an Xbox 360 game thats compatible with your Xbox One, you can insert it into your Xbox Ones disc drive. The Xbox One will then download a ported version of that game from Microsofts servers and make it available on your console alongside your other installed games. If you have a digital copy of the game, you can download it from Microsofts servers like youd download any other digital Xbox One game.
Once you do get a game running, it should work well. You can even use the Xbox Ones Game DVR feature to record your gameplay in in Xbox 360 game. Eurogamer tested many major games and found that many of them performed better on the Xbox One than the Xbox 360, although some games had minor hitches and graphical problems that didnt appear on the Xbox 360.
But again: all this only works if the Microsoft has made the game compatible with the Xbox One. Each games publisher will need to sign off on this, and not every publisher has done so.

All The Xbox Backwards Compatibility Games
Looking to see if one of your favorite classic Xbox games is backwards compatible on newer systems? This list will let you know which game made the cut.
One of the major aces up the sleeve of Xbox has been its focus on backwards compatibility. Announced all the way back at E3 2015, backwards compatibility on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S covers a large chunk of the original Xbox and Xbox 360 library of games, mixing together a highlight reel of classic titles across a wide variety of genres.
Even better, a number of these games also sport several additional features at no extra charge. As detailed in our Xbox backwards compatibility guide, improvements to frame rate, load times, and image quality can be found on dozens of titles, and if you own them on disc or digitally, you won’t have to pay to play these games.
It’s worth noting that several of the games below have received remasters and have been bundled into dedicated collections over the years. Several Halo games for example are only playable from disc, but their digital versions can be downloaded through the Master Chief Collection. A rare handful of games are only available digitally, some are region-exclusive, and other games have been delisted over the years.
