Can I Stream On The Xbox Series X Without A Capture Card
If you dont have an Xbox compatible streaming software, you will have to play and record your game, put it on a capture card, and load it to a PC. From the PC, you can upload the game for streaming online.
Since Lightstream and Twitch are both compatible with every Xbox Series X console, you dont have to buy a pricey capture card. However, if you are using the Twitch app directly on your Xbox, you will not have access to overlays, alerts, and other features. A cost-effective way to rectify this is using Lightstream to upload your stream to Twitch. You can also use third-party software to stream without a capture card.

Problems With Native Gaming App Streaming
While a streaming app can be an easy solution for someone looking to jump into a stream without any additional hassle, it has its setbacks.
Games on PlayStation for example can sometimes block streaming and recording entirely. Many companies, like Atlas and Bandai Namco , have included in-game functions that stop their titles from being streamed after a certain period of time.
Theres no real way to tell which parts of the game will be cut either, and streamers often find out the hard way. Theres also no way to disable it.
Additional Audio And Video Sources
Adding video and audio sources to your streaming configuration allows for multi-level interaction with your audience, making your content more engaging. A microphone lets you add commentary to your stream or chat with your followers. Ideally, you should invest in a high-quality microphone instead of using the built-in mic of your earpods or webcam.
A webcam or camcorder lets you show your face while adding commentary to your stream. With a microphone signal input via your camera, you can embed the audio into the video as a single source, simplifying your streaming configuration.

Unfortunately, streaming on Twitch can require a little bit of effort, and youll need to make sure you have all the right software and equipment before you begin. In this guide, well walk you through how to stream on a PS4, a Windows PC, Xbox One, and how to stream on Nintendo Switch.
Twitch Account & Software
Creating your very own Twitch account is free and doesnt take very long with the option to sign in via Facebook. Fill everything in about yourself and keep it professional as this is going to represent you and later your brand. When you first start out it can be quite helpful to add/follow every single person you know in real life.
Before your first stream, the right software is essential. Once you have an OBS installed then technically you can stream. The most commonly used OBS are xSplit and Streamlabs. Whilst being free to use they offer extremely user-friendly interfaces with some premium features costing a small subscription fee.

What Is The Best Video Editor For Cutting Gameplay Videos
You can use various video editors to cut your gameplay videos, with the most popular including Corel VideoStudio, Pinnacle studio, and Vegas Movie Studio. However, many gaming content creators prefer PowerDirector 365 with its extensive editing features and user-friendly interface.
PowerDirector offers everything you need for gameplay editing, including professional effects, various motion graphic titles, and a library of Shutterstock royalty-free images you can use as overlays.
Using PowerDirector, you can also integrate and configure multiple audiovisual sources, including a webcam and mic. This software allows you to adjust the size and location of the webcam as part of your content during post-production.
Plug In Your Microphone And Set Up Your Game
Now its time to set up the audio devices for your stream. Take a look at the Audio Mixer area in OBS. It should already have at least the volume bar set up for your desktop. If it doesnt, you can add it manually following the same instructions youre going to use to add your microphone. In OBS, locate the Settings button in the bottom-right area of the application.
Clicking this will open up your settings window. Go ahead and navigate down to the Audio tab. Here you can add or remove audio devices as needed. Make sure that Desktop Audio is set to the correct piece of hardware and then locate the Mic/Aux audio options. You can set your microphone here. When youve selected your mic and desktop audio, return to the main OBS window and you should see your audio coming through in the mixer on the bottom.
Originally, OBS didnt offer native support for Mac desktop audio. This issue has been resolved with updates, though.

New Streamlabs Tool Adds Overlays Alerts And Webcams To Twitch Streams On Xbox Consoles
Streamlabs today announced the launch of a new product, Streamlabs Studio, that makes custom Twitch stream layouts available to Xbox console streamers.
This new service essentially lets Xbox console users broadcast their Twitch stream to Streamlabs servers where the audio and footage is then added to a custom cloud-hosted stream layout with alerts and scenes.
This custom overlay and footage is immediately redirected to the users Twitch channel where it can be watched by viewers on the Twitch website and the various Twitch apps.
Streamlabs Studio is honestly a gamechanger when it comes to console Twitch streaming as previously streamers were required to either stream with no layouts or alerts on an Xbox console or export to a PC with broadcasting software via a capture card. Xbox console owners can now broadcast professional-looking Twitch streams without the need for a PC or capture card. This is going to improve the quality of Xbox streams on Twitch enormously.
Streamlabs Studio can also add webcam footage to streams either by using a webcam thats connected to an Xbox console directly via USB or a smartphone or tablet. Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X consoles are all supported.
Unfortunately, Streamlabs Studio does not support the original Xbox One console.
Streamlabs Studio does require a $4.99 monthly fee to use though a seven-day free trial is available for those that want to try it out.
How To Set Up Obs Studio For Streaming To Twitch
Twitch has a number of requirements for video being broadcast to the platform. As a rule, here’s what you will be aiming for.
- Max bitrate: 6,000 kbps
- Max frame rate: 60 FPS
- Rate control: CBR
- Keyframe interval: 2
Of course, this is all dependent on your PC hardware and your internet connection. If you don’t have the spare bandwidth for 6,000 kbps, for example, then you can’t use that bitrate. You’ll need to lower that as required based on your connection.
Likewise, if you don’t have a CPU that can encode a 1080p60 stream, you’ll have to make sacrifices there, as well. It’s important to remember that if you’re just starting out you won’t have transcoding on your Twitch account, either, so you might want to lower to 900p or 720p and a lower bitrate to ensure your viewers have a good time as well.
But how do you plug all of these settings into OBS? It’s all done in the Settings menu under the Output and Video tabs.

How To Stream Xbox One Games On Pc Without A Capture Card
It’s easy to start streaming your Xbox One gameplay to several platforms with Restream even if you don’t have a capture card. To do this, you’ll need to capture Xbox Companion App on your computer and stream it with any software, like OBS. It will allow you to add overlays to your stream, and also to stream to Restream to send your video to several platforms at once.
Preparing For Your Twitch Video Stream
After setting up your stream, select the Stream tab to the right of the Record tab. Then, click on the check box above the Twitch icon. If you want to stream to multiple platforms, such as YouTube and Facebook, you can check these icons as well.
Click on Login below the streaming platforms icons and follow the on-screen instructions to sign in to your Twitch account and enable the streaming session. After you sign in and authorize your Twitch account, the software will automatically retrieve the stream key you need to broadcast your feed on Twitch.
Once youve signed in to your Twitch account, click on the gear icon on the top right of your screen. Then, select the server you want to use and enter your videos title.
Next, you need to set your recording options from the drop-down menus in the Record tab, including the video resolution and framerate. If you want to share your videos URL to your social media, copy it from this window below the video framerate drop-down menu.
Configure Your Stream Inputs and Overlays
Before going live, you need to include your additional audio and video sources and add overlays, such as your logo.
At the bottom of the Stream tab, youll find webcam, microphone, and overlay buttons. Start with the webcam button to configure your cam feed, including its source, size, and location. Under Webcam Settings, you can use the chroma key function to replace and customize your webcams background.

Stream Your Xbox Or Playstation To Twitch With Overlays And Alerts
Hi everyone, you can now use the Twitch Xbox App or Playstation Twitch integration to stream to Lightstream and then to Twitch.
For Xbox Gamers: Lightstream is now an available destination in the Twitch Xbox App. That means the DNS setup described below is no longer required. Just set your destination to Lightstream in the app! Learn how it works on Xbox
For Playstation Gamers:A small change to your network settings can redirect your stream from the Playstation Twitch integration to stream to Lightstream first and then to your Twitch channel with overlays, alerts, and more.
The slightly longer explanation: DNS servers are what resolve URLs into the address your devices need to direct your traffic, load a website, or access a service. This is usually automatic from your internet service provider. Our custom DNS service passes through all your traffic normally unless your Playstation is looking for a Twitch ingest server . And when it does, our DNS service tells your Playstation that ingest.twitch.tv is ingest.golightstream.com. Then we receive and identify your stream as normal, add your designs, and send it off to Twitch.
Settings Within The Twitch
When the Twitch app is started for the first time, some preferences still have to be set. These include:
You can set whether the video of the facecam should be shown on the screen and if so, where. Depending on the game, the UI is in different locations, so make sure that you dont cover important elements with your camera image. Of course streaming from the Xbox One also works with most USB headsets available on the market
Select whether your users can hear you by enabling Enable microphone. Also adjust the volume of the microphone in relation to the in-game sound so that it does not drown out your voice completely. When buying a microphone, you must first make sure that it is compatible with your Xbox.
Finally, you can decide whether you want to use the twitch overlay as a permanently displayed sidebar or in a minimized version. In the minimized version, you can access the functions of the app using the snap function of the home menu.
Now you only have to give your stream a name and select the game you want to stream. In the future, you can also start your stream outside of the app by simply using the Kinect command Xbox, Broadcast! On your mark, get set, stream!
