Xbox Game Pass Might Get A Family Membership For Multiple Users
Phil Spencer reveals that Microsoft would like to have a plan like family memberships for Xbox Game Pass in the future.
Xbox Game Pass subscription, especially the Ultimate edition, is currently a big wild card that Microsoft has over Sony on its consoles, but the subscription service is seemingly supposed to grow more with some new features on the way: A family membership might be one of the biggest ones.
Recently, when Phil Spencer was asked on Twitter whether there would be a solution like a family membership on Xbox Game Pass to allow multiple players to use the same subscription, he said:
We have. Its something wed like to do. There is Home console feature for one console household but for multiple family members with consoles a family plan would help. Really appreciate the feedback.

Currently, one Xbox Game Pass subscription can only be shared between two different users through the Home console feature, however, as Spencer said, there are no solutions at the moment for sharing one subscription between more than two users.
The family membership plan is currently available on some of the well-known subscription services like Spotify, a music platform that Microsoft itself has a partnership with on Windows 10.
What You Need To Gameshare On Xbox
To get started and gameshare on your Xbox console, youre going to need:
- Two Xbox consoles
- Your login
- Your sharers login
To go into a little more detail, both you and your sharer will need an Xbox console, whether thats an Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox One S, or Xbox Series X|S.
Any of these devices are viable, and any different combination is okay too it doesnt really matter which devices you use.
Youll also need to have both your own login information and the info of the person youre sharing with. Make sure youre comfortable with sharing this information with each other though if you and a friend share a log in, remember it can be hijacked. Only share this information with people you trust.
How Does Gamesharing Work On Xbox Series X Or S
Gamesharing works based on the way that Xbox consoles handle digital purchases. When you purchase and download a game to your console, other users of that console are also able to play that game even if they arent logged into your account. This is possible because every Xbox user is able to set one Xbox as their home console, where downloaded games are available to everyone who has access to that console.
In addition to being able to access games that you have purchased on your home console, you can also download and play them on any other Xbox by signing into your account. When you do that, only you are able to play those games: other users of the Xbox will receive an error message if they try to play.
Gamesharing takes advantage of this by having you set your friends Xbox Series X or S as your home console. You can then log out of that console, allowing them to sign into their own account, then download and play any game you have purchased. You then sign back into your own Xbox, which is no longer your home console. Since youre logged in, you can download and play your games there.

Access Game Pass Games On Pc Via Microsoft Store
All of the PC games that are currently playable on Game Pass can be found in the Microsoft Store, Windows 10s app store, which is on every Windows 10 computer by default no extra installation necessary.
As I mentioned earlier, this is the slightly more confusing method for finding Game Pass games that work on PC. I recommend downloading the Xbox app listed above, but this option works if youre in a rush and dont want to deal with a download.
- Open the Microsoft Store.
- On the Store homepage, click the menu button on the top right section of the window, then select My Library to see all of the content that you own.
- Look for Xbox Game Pass and click on that option. All of the games included with Game Pass will display.
Unfortunately, this view displays all Game Pass games, including ones that can only be played exclusively on the Xbox console. And there isnt a way to filter the view to make Xbox One games disappear.
Did I mention that the Xbox app for Windows 10 is just way better?

Do You Get To Keep The Game Pass Games
After your Game Pass subscription ends, the games you installed are not playable anymore. However, when you continue your Xbox Game Pass subscription, you can continue the game right where you stopped or saved it. You can also purchase the game with a discount if your Game Pass subscription is still active. Those games you buy at a discount are yours to keep, even without an active Game Pass membership.

Repeat the above steps for the other Xbox One or Series X/S and then sign back into your own accounts on your respective consoles to be able to maintain the other account’s games.
Is Xbox Game Pass Shareable
Xbox Gamepass is one of the best deals in gaming, but can you share it with friends and family? It might seem straightforward but its a little more complicated.
Gamepass itself does not share, but any games downloaded from game pass do, so the account with Gamepass must download the games first for them to be shared across accounts.
Its a little confusing but just make sure you download all the game you want to share, I will explain how to game share on Xbox, does game share work across profiles and if you can game share PC Gamepass and EA access, read on to find out!

What Is The Difference Between An Xbox Game Pass And Xbox Live Gold
The difference between the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold is that with the Game Pass, you can stream games that are available in the Game Pass Library. Play The Same Game On Two Consoles At Once
One of the best things about this method is that it allows you to play the same game on two consoles at once. This means you can play multiplayer titles like Sea of Thieves or Back 4 Blood at the same time, with a single account. There are many more multiplayer experiences on Game Pass that you can take advantage of with this method.
The only catch is that you cannot use the same account on both consoles. You can only be signed in on a single console at any one time. This prevents you from using a single Game Pass subscription on more than two consoles.
Make sure the person playing on Xbox B is using their own account and everything should just work as advertised. If a second account on Xbox A wants to play a Game Pass title, make sure that Person A is signed in first.
How Does Gamesharing Work With Xbox Series X Or S And The Xbox One Family Of Consoles
Gamesharing works exactly the same way on Xbox Series X or S as it did on the Xbox One family of consoles. In fact, all of these consoles exist in a single ecosystem, and you can only have a single home console among all of them. That means if you used to share games with a friend by setting their Xbox One as your home console, they will lose access if you later set your own Xbox Series X or S as your home console.
If you want to continue sharing games as you upgrade to an Xbox Series X or S, you and your friend will have to come to a new agreement. Since you can each only have one home console, you can opt to either share games to an Xbox One or Xbox Series X or S, but not both.
Playing From Different Pcs
Sometimes, you may have issues when both you and your family member are playing the same game from different PCs because the game might detect that there is already an active session on another PC.
You can fix this problem by enabling Offline Permissions in the Xbox App of your family member.
Select your profile on the top right, and open Settings.
Go on the General tab and mark Offline Permission Enabled.

The app will notify you that Your Microsoft Store account is different from your Xbox account, but you can just ignore the message and press the X on the top right. It does not cause any issue.
Now you can freely download any game included in the subscription.
After downloading the games, you can switch back the Microsoft Store account, as it is not required to play them.
Note that you will have to switch Microsoft Store accounts every time your family member needs to download a new game.

How To Gameshare On Xbox One: Share Xbox One Games With Friends And Family
Want to know how to gameshare on Xbox One? Then you’ve landed on the right page. While lending physical Xbox One games to your friends and family is pretty straightforward, it’s somewhat more difficult to share your digital Xbox One library with others.

Sharing Your Game Pass Subscription
Lets get one thing out of the way before you start: theres nothing wrong with doing this and you wont be banned by Microsoft for sharing your subscription between two consoles. Microsoft created the game sharing system which allows for subscriptions and games to be shared with other consoles.
This method only works across two consoles. They can be any two consoles within the Xbox family that can take advantage of Game Pass. That means if you have a new Xbox Series X and an older Xbox One S, you can share your subscription with both. Keep in mind that some games will be exclusive to the Series X and S consoles, so you wont be able to play these on older hardware.
You can use this system to share your Game Pass subscription with any other console. It doesnt have to be your console, nor does it have to have access to your Xbox account once the setup has been completed. You will need to log in on the console you want to share with to set it up in the first place.
Be very careful if youre sharing with someone you dont entirely trust, where you cant set up the share in person. Youll need to sign in with your Xbox credentials to enable sharing, and for security purposes, youll probably want to delete your account afterward unless you trust the other party entirely. If both consoles are under the same roof, this should be less of a concern.

Xbox Game Pass Comparison
But a simpler way of putting it is that Game Pass and Game Pass for PC are basically just about getting you a growing, on-demand library of downloadable games for your Xbox console or Windows PC respectively including much newer games than you might think whereas Game Pass Ultimate gives you both of those subscriptions plus xCloud and all the additional free games, discounts, and online multiplayer that an Xbox Live Gold subscription typically provides.
If youve only got a Windows PC, theres not much reason to buy Ultimate unless you really, really want to try xCloud on your Android phone. But for $9.99 a month, the normal Xbox Game Pass for PC already includes access to over 200 PC games, including brand-new titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator. With each of these subscriptions, Microsoft has promised all its new first-party titles will be there at launch. The PC version will also come with EA Play titles later this year.
If youve got Windows and Xbox, Ultimate might make more sense so you can play games on both platforms, of course.
For console gamers, Gold is a good get
But even if youre just an Xbox console gamer who plays online multiplayer with friends, the Ultimate subscription is tempting for just $5 more than the standard Game Pass because thats how much youd pay for multiplayer anyhow over the course of a 1-year Xbox Live Gold subscription .
