The Xbox One can play certain Xbox 360 games, Xbox Live Arcade games, and even original Xbox games. There are no costs involved, so you can freely play all of your old compatible games if you’re still holding onto the discs.
It is a little more complicated than just inserting an Xbox 360 game into your Xbox One and playing though, and you’ll need a high speed internet connection to download updates for each game you want to play.
Backwards compatibility works the same on all Xbox One consoles, including the original version, the Xbox One S, and the Xbox One X. The only differences are that consoles with more hard drive space can store more backwards compatible games, and a handful of backwards compatible games have been enhanced for the Xbox One X.
Xbox Series X Controller Compatibility

The Xbox Series X and Series S controllers are both compatible with the Xbox One and PC. On the flip side, you can use your Xbox One controller on your Xbox Series X or S.

Utilizing Auto Hdr To Make Your Old Games Look Better
When the Xbox One S was released, many games launched without HDR capability. However, the Xbox Series X and Series S boast a new feature called Auto HDR.
Auto HDR will automatically enhance the graphics of an SDR game, without the developers having to perform any extra work to make their games compatible.
Because the Auto HDR feature is implemented by the system, the CPU, GPU, and memory won’t incur any performance costs, ensuring you always get the best out of your Xbox Series X.

Will Old Xbox Discs Work On The Xbox Series S
The short answer is no. Unlike the Xbox Series X, the Xbox Series S doesn’t feature a physical disc drive, so you won’t be able to play your Xbox discs on the Xbox Series S, even from the previous generation, the Xbox One.
If you have a lot of old Xbox game discs that you intend to play, it’s highly recommended you consider the Xbox Series X instead.
However, if you have digital downloads of your games, these will play on Xbox Series S.

How To Import From Cloud Saves
Whilst the fastest way to play your old Xbox games on Xbox Series X is using the disc drive, you’ll need to import your saves from the cloud.
Xbox Wire confirmed in a blog post that if you purchase a game on Xbox One then your game library, progression, and saves will move with you to the next generation consoles.
If you’ve already enabled cloud saves on your previous Xbox, they will automatically sync to any game you install on your new Xbox Series X.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
The Ghost Recon series has taken several different forms over the years, transitioning from a first-person shooter to a third-person shooter with an emphasis on stealth and tactics, and it was it its most high-tech in 2012s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
The game is fully playable solo or cooperatively, and it introduced the sync shot feature that allows you to take out four enemies simultaneously. The online multiplayer played like a cross between Gears of War and Battlefield, with teamwork valued above all else, and the excellent controls made taking cover and eliminating enemies a breeze.

Will My Old Discs Work On Xbox Series S
We’ll get this one out of the way first as it’s the simpler answer – no! The key thing to know about the Xbox Series S before you buy it is that there’s no physical disc drive whatsoever, which means that you’ll have no way at all of running games from your discs on the new compact console.
That means that if you have a big library of Xbox One games on disc that you know you’ll be wanting to dip back into fairly regularly, it might not end up being the best choice for you as a next-generation machine.

How To Use Data Transfer Via Wi
If you don’t own an external storage device, don’t worry. You can transfer your currently installed games and system data from your Xbox One to Xbox Series X using Wi-Fi.
Both consoles need to be powered on and connected to the same WiFi network for this to work. If your internet connection is slow, the transfer could take some time, or if you’re copying over a lot of games and data in one go.

Can I Carry On With My Previous Xbox 360 Game Saves On Xbox One Or Xbox Series X/s

If you originally set your Xbox 360 to save games to the cloud you will be able to download the save files to the Xbox One version and carry on. The cloud files are permanently associated with your gamertag so the Xbox One should do this automatically.
If you only saved your in-game progress locally, to the hard drive, you will need to restart your Xbox 360 and save them to the cloud instead. If you no longer have your Xbox 360, sadly you won’t be able to access the files.
Considering the first-gen Xbox didn’t save games to the cloud in the same way, you can’t carry on with old save games.
