First of all, you will need an active internet connection to download the game. Even if you have the game on disc, the console has to download the game with the special Xbox 360 emulator from the Xbox marketplace.
After the game has been downloaded, and you made sure your console is set as the Home Console for the account that purchased the game, you can play Xbox 360 games offline.
Since I don’t own Skate, I don’t know the online requirements for the game itself, so if the Xbox 360 version required you to play with an active online connection, so would the backwards compatible version.
If the Xbox 360 version was able to be played offline, so will the backwards compatible version work as well.
However: You will HAVE TO be online when you first start a Xbox 360 game to be able to download your profile into the emulated Xbox 360 of the game, and create the cloud save space.
After that, you could also play the game offline, if Skate on the Xbox 360 was able to be played offline.

This is a machine with far more graphical prowess that the existing Xbox One, and how developers will take advantage of that 6TF of GPU power is up to them.
It’s not for the faint-hearted.
Back during E3 2016, Xbox head Phil Spencer said users will only notice a difference with games running on Xbox One X if they had a 4K television but that’s changed – Spencer later clarified that “some developers will take advantage of that 6 teraflops in different ways”, meaning they won’t have to use the extra processing power to necessarily hit 4K, and can channel it towards a better looking 1080p experience instead – whether that’s through super sampling or otherwise.

For its time, CD Projeck RED’s The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings was one of the most technologically advanced PC games money could buy – so the notion that the game could be down-ported to Xbox 360 felt far-fetched, to say the least. But in April 2012, that’s exactly what happened, and through a combination of well-judged cutbacks and entire revisions of key systems, CDPR handed in a highly creditable experience.
Now it’s available for Xbox One via backward compatibility, and it’s well worth checking out – especially as for the time being, it’s free to download for most users. The end result is intriguing: in common with many of the more demanding Xbox 360 games, there are areas where Xbox One provides enhanced performance, v-sync is fully enforced across the entire experience, while elsewhere, frame-rates lag behind the same code running on original hardware – a phenomenon that is mostly limited to combat encounters.

Can I Carry On With My Previous Xbox 360 Game Saves On Xbox One Or Xbox Series X/s
If you originally set your Xbox 360 to save games to the cloud you will be able to download the save files to the Xbox One version and carry on. The cloud files are permanently associated with your gamertag so the Xbox One should do this automatically.
If you only saved your in-game progress locally, to the hard drive, you will need to restart your Xbox 360 and save them to the cloud instead. If you no longer have your Xbox 360, sadly you won’t be able to access the files.
Considering the first-gen Xbox didn’t save games to the cloud in the same way, you can’t carry on with old save games.

Due To Licensing Legal And Technical Constraints
Xbox just added 70+ games to its backward compatibility program. But this massive drop will be the last set of games added as Xbox announced licensing and legal constraints means it can no longer add games to backward compatibility.
Tucked away in the officialXbox Wire post announcing the latest drop of backward compatible and enhanced games, Xbox writes, While we continue to stay focused on preserving and enhancing the art form of games, we have reached the limit of our ability to bring new games to the catalog from the past due to licensing, legal and technical constraints. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
IGN confirmed with Xbox that this is the final addition to the backward compatible catalog and that no new titles should be expected going forward.
In a statement by a Microsoft spokesperson the company says, “Yes, this is the final addition of Xbox 360 and original Xbox games to the backward compatibility program. We have reached the limits of our ability to add additional games to the catalog due to licensing, legal or technical constraints. We knowweve said this before, but we wentbackone more time to bring as many fan-requested titles as possible to the catalog to celebrate our 20th anniversary.

Xbox Series X: So Many Xbox Classics To Play
Since the Xbox backward compatibility program launched in 2015, originally as a feature for the then current-gen Xbox One, Microsoft has made 695 previous-gen games playable on the most recent Xbox . Not to mention every single Xbox One title has been playable on Xbox Series X since launch.

- Increased resolution â The title is capable of outputting up to 2160p. Enhanced games are rendered at 9x their original resolution. This means games that originally ran at 720p will run at 2160p on capable displays.

The experience varies from game to game. According to Digital Foundry’s report, all titles receive some baseline improvements – such as the elimination of screen tear “completely on every title” – through to any disc access operations tending to “have less of an impact on performance”, meaning Mass Effect’s elevator load times and Fallout 3’s hitches are reduced.
However, while less demanding games such as Braid and N+ perform flawlessly, the more CPU-heavy titles do struggle, with Halo: Reach and Gears of War: Judgement singled out as games that suffer in the emulation process.
In terms of features, Xbox 360 backwards compatibility on Xbox One supports:

How Does Dlc Work
Games with bundled DLC should work properly. For example, Red Dead Redemption for Xbox 360 is available in three different editions: Red Dead Redemption , Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, and Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition. All three discs are compatible and work how youd expect them to. The Game of the Year edition disc comes with all the additional content, so it will just work in the game. The standard disc doesnt come with any additional content, but you can choose to purchase the DLC from the Xbox Store and it will be enabled in your game.
Thats how it should work for most games, in theory. In practice, we found that the Xbox One just downloaded the base version of Fable II when we inserted a Fable II: Game of the Year Edition disc. The system wanted us to purchase the DLC that should have been included with the game. The Xbox One cant seem to tell the difference between the base and game of the year versions of this particular game. The Xbox One may be confused about some other Game of the Year games and their DLC, toowere not sure if this problem is specific to this one game or not.
All in all, though, the system works pretty welland should have you playing your old Xbox 360 games in no time.
Does It Work With Xbox Games I Bought Through Xbox Store
Xbox backward compatibility works with digital content as well as disc games. In fact, if you enter a supported disc into your Xbox One or Series X, the machine will download the game from the Xbox store first – although you will need the disc to be in the machine each time you play. This cannot work on an Xbox One S All-digital Edition or Xbox Series S, of course, as they do not feature disc drives.
If you own a digital copy of a supported game it appears in your games list ready for download. Check your My Games & Apps hub to see if any are listed among the games yet to be installed.
