Various Modes & What’s New
MLB The Show 21 is one of the most comprehensive sports games ever to hit Xbox. The reason why? You can enjoy the game of baseball in more ways than one.
The main game modes in the game include Road to the Show, Diamond Dynasty, March to October, and Franchise. These modes focus on prolonged gameplay and require the utmost dedication and concentration. You can’t just finish these modes overnight, or in a few days.
For some more fun and quicker moments, you also can quick play with Challenge of the Week Moments in MLB or play a Home Run Derby And, for a quick trip to baseball’s biggest game enter Postseason Mode and shape your own World Series and MLB Postseason bracket.
If you’re confused, I attempted to summarize each of these main game modes below. Of course, you always can run a quick Exhibition game using Live Rosters, too, or go with Retro Mode for a more simple tap and go control mechanism. There’s no need to explain those two modes, as it’s one of the easiest in the game just pick a team, settings, and start playing.
In my time playing, the fun aspect of the game has been the March to October mode. This mode just puts you, the player, in games right when they’re close to ending The goal is for you to try to win, or finish off the game for your team and keep winning to build a strong season record. It’s quite fun, and I’ve finally managed to guide my Mets to a World Series Title.
How Do I Pre
All you need to do to pre-load MLB The Show 21 is head to the Xbox Game Pass app on your console, scroll down until you find the “coming soon” section, and then click on the game. From there, you can choose to ‘install all’.
You’re looking at a download size of just over 70GB on Xbox Series X, and 45GB on Xbox Series S / Xbox One.
What Are Some Of Mlb The Show 21’s New Features
There are lots of new features in MLB The Show 21, including Gameplay Styles to help onboard new players, a new pitching system called Pinpoint Pitching, various new animations, upgrades to modes such as Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty, a brand-new Stadium Creator for next-gen systems, and much more.
“Experience faster, deeper and more intense moment-to-moment match action on the field, with a variety of game modes for all you rookie players and returning seasoned vets.”

Online Play & Crossplay
As a rarity in the gaming world. MLB the Show 21 allows for online cross-play between PlayStation and Xbox users. It seems like a good idea on the surface, but online play is one of the worst parts of this game. You can actually add friends from the PlayStation world from within a system inside MLB The Show to handle the cross-play and then invite them to Exhibition Games.
For matchmaking and playing without friends and playing with random strangers, Online mode also works with what’s known as “Online Rated.” It is here where you can play and controlling a team of your choice. You’re matched based on team rating, team strengths, and starting pitcher strengths. Longer wait times can happen if the rating isn’t quite right.
There are also Custom Leagues too, where you can create your own MLB fantasy league, invite various friends and control a team and play to see which team and player end up on top. No CPUs are in this mode, and everything is dependent on the player itself.
Generally speaking, playing with friends across consoles is really buggy. There’s a lag in between hitting or throwing the ball and also fielding. Playing with friends who are on the same console is a much better experience and a lot less frustrating. It’s also a shame that you still can’t take your own Franchise Team online, which is a long-time request of MLB The Show players.
What You Need To Know
- MLB The Show 21 is the next-gen entry in a franchise that has historically been exclusive to PlayStation.
- Recently, it was revealed that the first-party PlayStation title was launching on Xbox and PlayStation at the same time.
- Even more shocking was the news that MLB The Show 21 would also come to Xbox Game Pass day and date.
- According to a new report, the decision to bring MLB The Show 21 to Xbox was solely MLB’s decision, and not Sony’s.
Xbox Game Pass is hurdling from one victory to another in recent months, and recently announced that the long-time Sony-developed franchise MLB The Show is not only launching on Xbox and PlayStation, but MLB The Show 21 is also launching into Xbox Game Pass day and date. MLB The Show 21 launching on Xbox as a first-party Sony title is already a huge deal, but its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass is almost mind boggling. It appears that the decision to bring MLB The Show 21 to Xbox likely wasn’t Sony’s decision, according to a report from Inverse.
When the news that MLB The Show 21 was launching on Xbox and Xbox Game Pass broke, many gamers speculated that this might signal the beginning of the end for Sony’s decades-long approach to games exclusivity. However, these speculations have been shattered by a PlayStation representative that spoke to Inverse, and confirmed what a few of us already believed: MLB The Show 21 is heading to Xbox because of MLB, not Sony.

Is Mlb The Show 21 Cross
Yes! MLB The Show 21 is cross-platform in 2021. This means that you can play this game with people on other platforms. This is a great opportunity for those who have not been able to play the game with their friends because they didn’t have access to a PlayStation or Xbox.
There are several reasons why getting cross-platform functionality is vital in MLB The Show 21. Some of those reasons are as follows:
- More people to play with: One of the most significant issues that gamers face is a lack of players. It gets difficult for them to have a good gaming experience when there aren’t enough players playing at a particular time. Cross-platform functionality provides access to more players so you can enjoy competition and gaming with other people no matter what time it is.
- Different perspectives: Playing games can sometimes get boring because all of the players are doing the same thing, simultaneously and in the same way. You won’t experience this in cross-play as everyone will do different things and come up with different strategies to win. This significantly improves the game’s enjoyment factor.
- Competitive matchmaking: Players of MLB The Show 21 are usually competitive and love to win. There is nothing worse, but at the same time thrilling, than facing an opponent you cannot beat. Crossplay allows players who prefer different platforms to come together on one platform, allowing you to play against real players on the platform of your choice.

How To Enable Cross
MLB The Show 21 has made the jump to Xbox platforms for the first time ever, bringing the premiere baseball simulator to more consoles. With the series going multi-platform, it has brought plenty of cross-progression questions for anyone who owns the game on both PlayStation and Xbox. Luckily for those people, Sony is allowing cross-progression saves to be carried over. Here is how to enable cross-progression in MLB The Show 21.
To start the cross-progression process, load up the game on either PlayStation or Xbox and go to your profile page by clicking your icon in the top left of the menu and tabbing over to the right once. In the bottom right will be an option to link your account if you are connected to The Shows online servers. Click it, and you will be given a code that you need to enter on theshow.com/myaccount within ten minutes. When we attempted to go to this page, we got a 404 error, so if you also have that happen, click My Account in the top right of the page and either create or log in with a TheShow account.
When you have found both accounts on this page, click the red button that says, Choose this Account. When each account is linked, you will see a message pop up on your console letting you know that the process was successful. You then need to do the same process on the other console. You can check and ensure both are linked by going to your account page theshow.com.

Sports video games are video games based on the rules of a specific sports game. These games can range from simulation to arcade-style. The main objective in all these types of video games is to win. Sports games usually involve both single-player and multiplayer matches between players using specialized controllers or input devices. An example of a sports game is MLB The Show 21 which allows you to play baseball with other people over the internet.

One reason the company might have decided it was time to move on from the MLB 2K series was that it wanted to focus more on its other titles. Play The Way You Want
Of course, with MLB The Show 21 hitting Xbox for the first time, and also as a part of Xbox Game Pass, there will be a lot of players who aren’t familiar with the controls. The developers of the game seem to have kept this in mind. During the initial bootup, you can pick various settings to play the game the way you want.
This actually made me happy, as previous baseball games on Xbox One were either too difficult or way too easy and too arcade-style. You can opt for casual if you’re new to the game to have the CPU handle most of the gameplay and fielding for you. There’s also simulation if you really don’t want CPU help, or competitive if you want to depend on your own skills. The game will even ask for dynamic difficulty, which can change up the difficulty if you become too good and pile up too many wins.
You can select a difficulty level, and then move on to tweak the way you pitch or field, and choose various controller schemes. These are all explained by the game for you as you explore your options, and you can even demo the controls before picking a final option. I opted for a more casual experience with the meter pitching type, the zone hitting type, trackball, and auto fielding turned on.
This combination I choose is best for anyone who just wants to have fun in the game and not end up rage quitting. You’ll get more in-game and on-screen visual hints about how to improve your batting, or your fielding with these options turned on.
