This morning marks the launch of the new version of Minecraft on Nintendo Switch. Last year, you guys may remember that Minecraft launched the “Better Together” update, which allowed players on Xbox One, Windows 10, VR, and mobile to play together. Now that “Better Together” initiative has reached the Nintendo audience, and the Nintendo Switch player-base has been welcomed to the cross-play family. Check out the new cross-play trailer above!
You may notice something missing from that trailer, and indeed, something missing from this entire conversation. Where’s the PlayStation 4, and where has Sony been throughout all of this chummy cooperation? It’s so fantastic, and so surreal, to see Nintendo promoting the Xbox brand in one of its trailers, but we like it. As players continue to express their desire for a truly cross-platform multiplayer ecosystem, Nintendo and Microsoft continue to prove their allegiance to their respective fan bases.
That just makes Sony look even more foolish. The entire trailer was a pleasure to watch, and it was all very heart-warming, but everyone focused in on this image:
If you already downloaded Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, then don’t even worry about it. This new version of Minecraft is already yours, and you can download it right now from the Nintendo Switch eShop for free! The folks over at Minecraft have thrown together a quick FAQ that you guys may want to glance over:

How To Use Cross
While the specific steps behind using cross-play vary from game to game, there are some common prerequisites to meet between titles.
To use cross-play, you’ll need a copy of a supported game for both Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. And without any form of cross-platform systems for purchasing titles, like Microsoft’s Play Anywhere program for Xbox One and Windows 10, you’ll need to buy two copies of each title.
Both consoles will also need online connectivity and multiplayer access. On Xbox One this means an Xbox Live Gold subscription, while on Nintendo Switch, players will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. For now, the Nintendo Switch Online subscription is offered for free, though a paid rollout is scheduled for later in 2018.

Can Players Crossplay Minecraft On Ps4 And Xbox
Over Minecraft’s decade-long tenure, Mojang has released multiple versions of the popular block-building game. Thankfully, players can enjoy the game with friends on any platform.
However, there is one stipulation. Players will need to have the same version of Minecraft to play across consoles and personal computers. Console players on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch that want to play Minecraft together will each need to be playing on Bedrock Edition. This also applies to players on computer platforms hoping to play with their friends on consoles.
Using Realms For Multiplayer

Players can also join Realms, which are servers that stay online all the time and dont require a host to be currently playing.
You can send invites to your Realm via your Friends tab or invite via a link if youre playing on a PC. Clicking the link will launch the Minecraft app. Console players will need to be invited via friends list.
After joining the Realm for the first time, you will be able to return to it whenever you want from your Friends tab. The Reams youve joined will appear under Joinable Realms, as long as the Realm is still online.

Minecraft Fans On Ps4 Can Now Play With Friends On Xbox Windows Nintendo Switch Ios Android And Gear Vr
Minecraft fans who play on PlayStation 4 can now team up with friends on platforms including Xbox One, Microsoft has announced.
A new update will let gamers play the popular block-building title together in shared worlds regardless of whether they are using PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows 10, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android or Gear VR.
PS4 gamers will also be able to access the Minecraft Marketplace, an official, online shop that sells new worlds, skins, mini-games and mash-up packs. Any purchases can be carried across platforms, so buying the Legacy Skin Pack on an Xbox will let gamers use it on a PS4, for example.
The new update applies to the unified Bedrock version of Minecraft and will install automatically and free of charge for PS4 players the next time they start the game. The free update will also never expire and all game purchases after today for PS4 will always be for this new version.
One of Minecrafts core missions is to connect players across devices and provide the best experience regardless of platform, says Helen Chiang, Studio Head of Minecraft. We continue to fulfil that mission here today by welcoming PS4 players to Minecraft on Bedrock and growing our cross-platform multiplayer community.
The news comes just days after Minecraft announced Realms Plus, a new monthly subscription service that lets gamers and up to 10 friends play online together in their own private server.

- You can pay for Minecraft Realms, where Mojang hosts multiplayer servers for you but it costs money.
- Or you can play together , or LAN, meaning you’ll have to be in the same place as the other players.;
