As of this week, Minecraft Dungeons adds cross-platform play. This means that users can play together between Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. If youve got a character on your PC, you can drop in to a dungeon and blast your enemies right alongside your friend on Nintendo Switch. This will not affect cloud saves but thats coming soon too.

Minecraft For Switch Gets Cross
Nintendo announces that Minecraft Switch Edition will get the Better Together update in June, enabling cross-play between Switch, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices.
Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch received glowing reviews all around. However, while everyone else gets to play with friends regardless of console choice, Switch players are limited to interacting with other Switch players that is, until June 20.
Along with a new physical edition of Minecraft Switch coming June 20, the “Better Together” update will drop a day later and bring cross-play functionality to Minecraft Switch Edition. This should come as welcome news to Switch owners wishing to build castles, slay zombies, and explore the world with their friends on other platforms. The Better Together update will allow full cross-platform play between Switch, Xbox, PC, Mac, VR, Android and iOS.

When you open Minecraft on PlayStation 4, youll immediately find the option Sign in with a Microsoft Account on the main menu.

With the update, online multiplayer in Minecraft will be able to loop Switch players in with people from Xbox One, PC, VR and mobile phones. PlayStation 4 is noticeably absent, as Sony has blocked efforts to get its console working online with Xbox One in multiple games recently.
Starting in September, Switch owners will need to pay a fee to play games online.
Bedrock Edition Lets You Play With Friends On Other Consoles
If you want to play Minecraft with friends who own other systems, it is best to buy Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. The Bedrock version has a cross-play function which means you can play with a friend even if you are on a PC and on a Nintendo Switch, for example.
