The Hugely Popular Sandbox Title Will Launch On November 2nd For The Subscription Service With Both Versions Accessible In A Single Launcher
Posted By Ravi Sinha | On 18th, Oct. 2021
Minecraft is currently available for Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. However, its PC versions have been absent from the subscription service. Thats going to change on November 2nd when Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition both being added.
Both versions will be playable on Windows 10 and 11, along with supporting cross-play with other platforms including mobile devices. Theyll both be available in a single launcher, allowing players to choose the one they want to go with. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is the more stable release and better suited for cross-platform play but the Java Edition allows for deeper modding and comes with Hardcore mode.
Having both options will thus be great though it remains to be seen if the Java Edition will support cross-platform play as well as the Bedrock Edition. Minecraft is currently available on pretty much every platform, from Xbox One, PS4 and PC to Nintendo Switch, iOS, Xbox 360, Android and PS3. Stay tuned for more details on its Game Pass launch in the coming weeks.
Adding Controller Support To Minecraft On Linux
Follow the steps below to set up controller support for Minecraft Java on Linux:
Do I Have To Buy Minecraft For Each Device
Minecraft is sold separately on each platform, so transferring licenses is not possible. Deleted Minecraft applications can be re-downloaded using the same store account and device type on which it was purchased. You can visit your devices marketplace, search for Minecraft, and re-download the app for free.

Crossplay In Minecraft: Java Edition
- If you are in the same place as the other players, you can .
- There is also the paid solution offered by Minecraft Realms, which hosts multiplayer servers.
Minecraft: Java Edition remains the original version of the game that is available for Mac and Linux users. This edition cannot be played on consoles.
Note, however, that Java users are allowed to play with other Java users using a Windows, iOS or Linux operating system.
Needless to say, doing cross-platform on Java becomes more complicated, but not impossible to play. All you have to do is choose the right alternative for you from the 3 available above.

Troubleshooting Minor Issues Joining
You need to keep Minecraft updated to the latest version available. Also, if you play in Console, all players should be using Minecraft Bedrock, and if players are on Windows, then Minecraft Windows 10 version would work fine.
The Minecraft Java version will not work cross-platform with Minecraft Bedrock.

What if we give our users the ability to play on multiple platforms?

Minecraft Is Coming To Xbox Game Pass For Pc
During this year’s Minecraft Live Mojang has announced that Minecraft is coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC this November.
The ‘Minecraft PC bundle’ will include both Java and Bedrock versions of the block-building sandbox alongside its dungeon-crawling spinoff Minecraft Dungeons. Minecraft already has its own launcher on PC, but it seems like Microsoft is pushing for all its games to be under one subscription umbrella.
Both Minecraft Bedrock and Minecraft Dungeons were already available on the console versions of Game Pass, but this new Minecraft PC bundle will be the first time the Java version will be available on the subscription service. The difference between the two is, put simply, Java is better for modding, Bedrock is better for cross-platform play. Mojang has made clear, mind, that cross-platform play between Java and Bedrock is still not possible.
Having both versions in one place is pretty handy. To play with friends you all need to be using the same version and, previously, the two have been completely non-interchangeable. They’ll still remain separate but Game Pass will make switching between versions much more accessible. You’ll only need to go to one place to play any Minecraft game.

Should I Get Windows 10 Or Java Minecraft
The Java edition of Minecraft is more resource intensive than the Windows 10 edition. This is more like a Java issue than a Minecraft issue. Therefore, if you dont want to modify the game further, using the Windows 10 edition is a better idea. That is all the contents of Minecraft Java edition vs Windows 10.
Where Do We Go From Here
When you observe the broader picture and take everything presented into consideration, the future for Minecraft on Xbox Series X|S becomes increasingly muddled. Between the absence of communication from Mojang Studios, the depressing state of Minecraft in backward-compatible mode, and a lack of any updates to resolve these issues on Xbox Series X|S, things aren’t looking great.
Minecraft with RTX is the only ray of hope for players, but it’s cast over with doubt and confusion
Minecraft with RTX on Windows 10 is the only ray of hope that players really have to bask in, but even that is cast over with a myriad of doubts and confusion. No matter how you look at the situation, it all comes back to Mojang Studios and how their tendency to make strange decisions and keep cards close to their chest leads to Mojang Studios feeling like it doesn’t have the people or resources necessary to deliver on promises .
Minecraft on Xbox Series X|S is an unfortunate disappointment. Even more frustrating is how easy it would be for Mojang Studios to alleviate the vast majority of concerns from the Minecraft community. Issues with Minecraft running in backward compatible mode notwithstanding, simple communication from Mojang Studios would go a long way towards restoring faith in the studio behind the largest game in the world and its support of Microsoft’s hardware.
